Thanks!

It's worth expired codes, many of them still redeem.

I sell every single UV code I get -- at fair prices I think, since they usually go very quickly -- and it's helped cut the prices on a lot of my physical collection.

I'm a physical media guy, so if I can get a few bucks for my codes and in turn help someone build their digital collection also, it's a definite win-win.

The UV/VUDU sharing is something I do use since it allows my family in distant states to watch my movies since they can't/don't want to buy physical formats (financial, space, frequent moves, etc)

Right now DMA/MA doesn't seem to allow this and I'm much more hesistant to allow sharing if I have to give them my actual master acct/password. With the sharing program I keep 100% administrative control so I'm the only one that can delete my items from the account.
I was wondering how that worked. Is there a “share link” to your account family can see, or do they have to have to have your username and password?

I've never even acknowledged them, never kept track of which releases included what. When it comes to that little bar at the top of the covers I think I may have some kind of specific blindness to the words "3D", "DVD" and "Digital".

Since I import almost everything I assume I wouldn't be able to redeem them anyway, and I probably have hundreds of expired codes from Blu-rays. Might start to give my 4K codes away if I can remember to (or sell if you can get more than a buck for them, but kind of too lazy to deal with payments and all that hassle.)

Google Play and iTunes have family sharing options (and are both MA providers).

Personally, I redeem all my digital copies and am quite happy I did (I use them e.g. for traveling). And a few dozen of them have been upgraded to 4K for free. Thanks Apple.

You would get $3.58. PP is 2.9% + 30 cents.

I guess by selling them I could pocket a little more money to buy future discs, but at the same time, part of me thinks it would be nice to have a backup in case something happens to my physical discs (fire/stolen).

Looking forward to hearing what you guys do.

Thanks
I destroy ‘em so they can never be redeemed. If everyone sold them, gave them away, or even redeemed and never use them, the studios would see a 100% digital conversion rate and would make a false assumption that consumers are ready for digital only distribution. Selling or giving away the codes is asking for physical media to die an exponentially quicker death.

And your point is.....Physical is History, like some have said UHD Discs will be the last. The Future is Fiber Networks and Servers, with Fixed Wireless for the rest. Digital HD will Rule!

Kaleidoscope is making noises again, they have come out with a Streaming Player and getting into Rental First Run Movies, it's called PVOD. They are the leaders in Server Based Movie Collections, and their Movies are full Bitrate with a large UHD Library.

Digital has not even killed the compact disc. It may dominate, but it will not eliminate, physical media.

I watched GoTG 2 on Bluray last night. I mostly stream these days, but any time I watch a disc I am reminded that physical is still superior in both audio and video. Convenience and price (thanks to codes which is thanks to physical) may win for most people, but quality is still king in my books.

I'm with you on that! Now that I own a 4K TV, I'm finding that streaming outside of Vudu's HDX is kind of a mixed bag. I rank physical Blu-ray above streaming 9 times out of 10. I'm giddy about 4K Blu-rays, haha.

I have found you need uhd digital feeds to get close to the same quality as a blu ray. Even with the uhd streams the blu ray still normally holds up better in dark scenes or high information scenes because of the compression Vudu and iTunes use. The only way digital can look better then its blu ray counterpart is if the encode on the disc is from a older flawed master because of how much compression streaming requires.

A data stream from a Blu-ray runs around 25-30 MB/s where the best streaming services (VUDU and Amazon) run about 9-10 MB/s for HDX and 15-20 MB/s for UHD, So I tend to agree with you here.

The expiry date on insert/slip doesn't necessarily mean they are expired. A lot of the codes never expire even though there is an expiration date.

I’d thank the studios for that one more than anything. They need to keep digital movie buyers as happy as they possibly can.

There’s already a shortage of people willing to buy movies at all for that matter.

Now that Disney and MA have muddied the waters, there will be even fewer. One less customer right here.

Thank goodness I own all the classics and my favorites already in physical form. And now the industry only comes out with 1, maybe 2 movies a year worth owning, the rest can be rented or watched on Netflix soon enough.

And then there's the beguiler Disney. I don't even know where to start with that nasty beast.

It's obvious the movie industry wants to go the same way as music and software... SUBSCRIPTIONS.... and Disney wants to run it all. Yuck.

Well, given that Apple is currently the only provider that does free upgrades, it seems likely that they have paid a pretty penny to the studios for that. Obviously they also have a profit motive (promoting iTunes store sales), but that doesn't mean I can't be happy about it.
