On their site the RC-10 speaker is 30lbs a piece?

I'll just play it by ear really. Let me see if my current Sanus stands can handle the RC-10's. Based on the specs between the RC-10, and C-200. They are just about the same size, but obviously the RC-10 is heavier. I wonder why?
The woofer is the same size as the C-100 on the RC-10 but don't get fooled they are amazing, same size woofer as the rc-30 or the LCR

VTI makes nice sturdy stands Miker has them.

As for as the weight difference, of course you know the answer to that. The materials and components that make up the speaker are of better quality. Steve and Olivier and others I'm sure could give you a more detailed answer than that, but the bottom line is the construction and materials used add to the weight. I'm sure the magnet is pretty hefty, although I've never personally opened up the speaker to look at it.
Yeah but my Rainmakers are 9lbs each and i put them up against those RC-10 anytime , a lot of factors affect the sound and the built techniques the way the cabinet is assemble can play a role in that. To tem has some lock mitered joints so the cabinet is almost like a one one piece, they can make them thiner and still have lots of rigidity and low resonnance.

Hey olivier, I'm thinking of wall mounting my RC-10 Surrounds somehow. Have you heard of anyone doing this and what did they use? I did a quick google search but came up empty.

Yea, duh, I should have caught that.
So, Mike your current stands would be fine I think, but if you find that it feels like it would fall over or something you could always upgrade later my friend.
Thanks for the clarification on the weights there olivier.

Is $1k tax in a good price for the CF-50's, CC-10 and CB-20's? This is from Future Shop in Canada.

Olivier so you're sure it's about 15lbs per RC-10?

My goodness, I was starting to stress over this thinking why the RC-10 weighed about 30lbs per speaker.

On the Energy site regarding specs for both C-200, and the RC-10. Check this out. Why would the RC-10 be listed as.

RC-10...

Weight 27.94lbs / 12.7kg pr
C-200...
http://www.energy-speakers.com/na-en...pecifications/
Quote:
Weight 13.2lbs / 6kg ea
I guess for the RC-10 they factored in the total weight with both speakers rather than having it separated like the specs shown in the C-100 link. I do however see the RC-10 weighing 12.7kg a pair.

Well I guess now I can stop worrying about speaker stands. Now I can just enjoy the waiting of my new speakers which should arrive this Tuesday

I just got new RC-10's shipped in today. I can confirm for you that they weigh about 12/13 lbs each. The number on the web site is for the pair.

As for your stand, the most important thing is that it compensates for the depth of these things. They are 9 inches deep. I bought a Sanus NF36 stand from Vann's as they recommended it for the RC-10s, but it only had a 6x6 top plate and was definitely not enough for me to be comfortable leaving the RC-10s on it.

Hey thanks! How many days did it take for you to receive them? I ordered today, and I got an email a few hours ago that they shipped. According to them, I should get it Tuesday.

Also, the C-200 and RC-10's look similar on the outside so the RC-10 would be just fine for the current stand I'm using.

I bought them on Tuesday evening (27th), got an e-mail that they had been shipped on the 28th, and they arrived today! Incredibly quick.

I live near Cincinnati, Ohio and the shipping tracking said they originated from there. So apparently Vann's has a warehouse nearby.

Id say its a pretty good deal. Considering that the total would be over $1800 with tax incl, so you save about $800. The CF-50s don't seem to go on sale very often like the CF30s and 70s do. Not to mention the center channel and bookshelfs other then the CB5 don't go on sale too often either.

Thanks, it seemed like a descent deal when they gave me the price today. I might pick them up tomorrow depending on what I can get at another dealer in town.

How tough are these to drive? They'll be driven by an entry level Yamaha, which I'm assuming should be fine for the short term but something better should be used right?

You can get the macro mount bracket from Energy on Audio Advisor.

Andrew they can use a lot of power but can be driven with very little power but won't perform their best and this is an awesome deal.

My gos what are you planning there? A living room setup?

Add a good sub in the mix with a decent receiver and it will be pretty darn good or maybe this is your bedroom setup

It's for my father in-law, he's looking to set up from his Paradigm Cinema 70 speakers that he has. For the time being he'll use his PDR-8 sub and at a later date go with an Outlaw or HSU sub. He's not that keen on buying a new receiver though and his is pretty much the lowest Yamaha you can get, it's only a five channel with a claimed 100w x5 and is roughly a year old. Not sure if it has pre-outs, I kind of doubt it. I asked him what model it was and he told me Yamaha, so who knows.

100x5 with Yammies usually translates to less than half woth all channels driven, I supect it to be more like 47wpc.

Hell my Arcam is only 75x7 all channels driven at 0.1% distortion.

I was thinking about 30wpc actually but it's probably somewhere in between. I tried to tell him to buy something from Accesories 4 Less but he doesn't like the idea of buying something refurbished. He says he'll buy a new sub but the PDR-8 will probably stay. Maybe just getting four CB-20's and the center would be a better idea.

lol you are probably right the RX-V1065 rated at 105 per channel is 50 wpc 5 channels driven and 30 wpc all 7 channels driven but since your Father in law has only 5 channels rated 100wpc i supect it to be 47wpc with all five channels driven.

BTW I reviewed the benchmarks and my Arcam is 75wpc all channles driven at 0.1% thd 85 wpc with 5 channels driven at 0.1% thd

OMG just saw the benchmarks on the RX-V371 and you are right 32.4wpc with 5 channels driven at 0.1%thd and reaches 1% thd at 35wpc

http://www.hometheater.com/content/y...-labs-measures

BTW I think he would be happy with 4 CB-20 regardless even those could handle your amps actually.
