I actually didn't realise the bottom of the table looked quite like it did, even with their thrashing today Bournemouth are much higher on the table than I realised and I didn't realise quite how close Palace were to a relegation battle. Really sad really given you guys started the season in some fashion.

Leicester and Spurs have tough games in the PL next, Spurs are out of other competitions now I believe and Kane appears to be on fire, so suddenly this five point gap isn't all that comforting anymore.

Yeah, Bournemouth are fine, they've been on a terrific run lately and in any other season both them and Watford would be pinching the headlines.

As for Palace, when you've not won a league game for three months (soon to be four as we tick over into April), have lost 6 home games on the bounce, are the only league team IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY to have not won in 2016 and are dead bottom of the performance table across Europe's top four or five divisions, then alarm bells start to ring.

A couple more losses and we'll be right in the shit and no mistake, but with the ones below us still having to play each other a few times Steed might be right in saying that they mightn't have enough to overhaul us. Still, that's 13 games without a league win and if we get to the end of the season having extended that to 21 games and *still* manage to stay up then I don't what will be the bigger miracle, Palace staying up or Leicester winning the title!

Incidentally, the report in one of the papers today said that Palace fans applauded Ranieri as he walked to the dugout and some even stayed to applaud the Leicester team off. In an age of football where cynicism has never been more rife, reading about that warmed my heart. It'll be scant consolation if we go down, mind you.

I was fully expecting it Geoff. Our inability to kill teams off will be our downfall. Defoe must be sick of putting us in the driving seat and then Seeing the team throw it away. Gutted. At least it's still in our hands with the extra point and 1 game in hand to Norwich.

Just caught up with all the matches. Agree with everything said above.

Does anyone know what is up with the Man City players? Do they just not care until the match gets down to the last 6 min.? Geez, that was a derby. Plus I don't know if it was the NBC feed we get over here in the states or the Man City supporters but the stadium sounded about as loud as a library. ....nothing at all like the Newcastle v. Sunderland match I watched.

Which was projected live at a local auditorium as we didn’t have any TV coverage of the event. Soccer was still pretty much undiscovered by most Americans. I’ll never forget my Dad taking off a day from work (a rare occurrence) to do so and rooting for Johan et al. to win because I was a big fan of ‘Total Football’…or what I knew of it at the time. Boy, 68 is not old.

The only time I ever talk about the Manchester teams is when the glory supporters bring them up at work.

Didn't see it. a local derby takes up so much energy that watching another game straight after is a non-event! Besides, like Geoff says, we are too caught up in our own season to give a shit!

Don't get me wrong, I would normally have watched it. I am just enjoying both teams struggling while Leicester romp to the title.

I see Leicester have ended up getting an invite to that megabucks International Champions Cup thingy, the very event that had their PR mouthpiece stating recently that people wanna see the Man Utd's of the world and not mere Leicester. Pffft.

That’s a big reason I watched the Manchester derby in the first place….to scout the opponents . For I follow the Gunners, the Eagles, the Foxes, and the Black Cats in the Prem and I believed all of those teams I have interest in, except for your black cats have to play either ManU or Man City before the season is over in what come turn out to be pivotal matches.

Well, it will probably be pure theatre until the end of the season. That's what we love though! makes the league special.

Nothing surprises me about my club Tob. You would think they would have had some inkling of this. At least Margaret Byrne is well gone. As for the player, we haven't seen him in action yet so can't say I feel strongly about it either way. Just means we are short (no pun intended) if Yedlin gets injured.

Tob, your post has vanished!

Thought you went off line but its ok steedeel on Eboue this was his fault not the club because he didn't tell Sunderland about the problem with him and his former agent.
