I'm in Canada and I called my local Best Buy on Friday and it said the store is only open for online orders and pre-orders. I was too slow to pre-order so I was hoping there'd still be a way to get it off the shelf on Tuesday. I'm going to call again on Monday to see.

To those who have sampled any of the discs from the OT or PT, are these grades pretty identical to Disney+?
I personally was mostly okay with the look of the Original Trilogy, even if they're the most accurate they've ever looked at home probably, but the Prequel Trilogy looked horrendous with fake HDR. Any insight here would be great. Thanks! -Vader |

A lot of people suspect Disney has an in-house HDR algorithm for catalogue titles that doesn't actually have more information in highlights, and instead just artificially boosts contrast and over-saturates color.
A lot of Disney+ titles look exactly as described, including the PT and Pirates of the Caribbean movies. -Vader |

The person I got off the phone with assures me it will be delivered by Tuesday even though it hasn't shipped yet. hope shes right though honestly I think they don't really know that for sure. said there was no way they can switch to instore because the order has been processed and waiting to ship.

But when you get charged that (not just pending) and nearly 3 days later it still hasn’t shipped, but yet others who bought it after you have already had it shipped, then it’s only natural to question it. Had I not actually been charged yet, I would just 🤷🏻*♂️. And if this were. Regular $5-30 Blu-ray I wouldn’t really be worried. |

I caved and bought the digital HD version on itunes (which I rarely do) since I watch it often and got tired of waiting for a blu-ray release. |

![]() Oh, and I too own the HD version on iTunes. I have NO idea why there wasn't ever a Blu-ray, especially with the success of the excellent Broadway adaptation! |

I can't tell if I'm setting the pricing for my digital codes to high, or if no one is truly interested, but I find it hard to sell digital codes here on Blu-ray.com and do a far better a job and luck on Facebook.

Here is an analysis form Vincent Teoh indicating the PT/OT doesn't have "real" HDR, just a different grade. The reason it's particularly egregious with the Prequel Trilogy is because the OT appears to be mostly accurate, while the PT has the contrast superficially cranked way up. It looks terrible. -Vader |

It's super easy to sell DCs here - if they're recently released movies. The older they are, the far harder it is. If they're the 4K versions it's easy too. A bluray movie that's a few years old? Good luck. New ones though? I'll probably make an easy $70-75 off the codes for the 8 SW releases.

The problems arise mainly down to tone-mapping, you can get something that peaks at 200 nits, put it in a high value container and it's going to look extremely dim (on the average display). But those 200 nits highlights would be twice as bright as an SDR grade. If consumers were allowed to manually enter peak brightness into their displays (I think the new LGs are rolling out something similar) so the image could be displayed more sympathetically then subtle grades wouldn't be half as divisive. |

I finished up Empire Strikes Back. I don't mean to be hyperbolic but it's kind of a travesty. Noise reduction is often moderate to heavy throughout. Close ups fair better, but then you need to contend with the grain manipulation that often makes faces look like they have caked on makeup. Many iconic shots are ruined with noise reduction and edge enhancement. A shame since it has the best cinematography of these films. Maybe something about the photography just doesn't lend itself to the Lowry process? A New Hope held up better to their brand of digital clean up.
