Look, I want people to have honest information from people who have seen the set itself.

Nate provides an honest review in which I may end up agreeing with. I am giving his review credit because he is someone who has seen and has viewed the set and therefore gives me a reason to take what he is saying seriously.

The people who have just seen screenshots and youtube videos and are already screaming FOUL! don't really hold much weight to me. You claim you have seen the set and aren't happy. I can't make a counter argument in that case because you are giving an opinion that holds weight.

I am hoping (and still expecting) to completely disagree with you and Nate Boss, but my ego isn't so big that I have to save face over something as insignificant as a video score.

Of course, I have seen the blu-ray itself and my opinion has not changed. Screenshots don't lie. The green tint is there throughout the film and it shouldn't be. I've seen the film with it removed and its much much better.
and some of us like to "make up our own minds" even more-so and insist on watching the actual disc and viewing scenes in context. Which screengrabs do not do.

Neither side of a coloring debate should claim monopoly on "thinking for themselves". That's just kind of childish.

Call me a cynic, but no one has changed their minds after viewing the discs in this thread. So without accusing people of telling fibs, I'll just say, people don't often change their mind after their first decision.

While I am personally not in favor of the scope of the changes. I do think it works better in some scenes than others in context.

You lose context with screengrabs, much like taking a quote out of context.

And while I seriously doubt anyone her e would claim they take a "professional reviews" opinions over there own, (just duh), I will take a "professional reviewer's" opinion and word over anonymous people on a forum.

Was anyone aware that Jurassic Park was officially announced today?

Just thought I would share some GOOD news!

But that wouldn't make sense either. Because the EE is supposed to have a different color timing then the TE. It is known that Peter Jackson changed the color for the EE.

Its the green tint that is up in the air. But since the trailer at the official site show the exact same thing i have to believe that was intentional also.

Which IMO the picture has become darker then the TE. If that is how PJ wants the movie to loo like how can we change that. It is his movies and he will do what it pleases him. We can like it or we can hate it but we can't do anything about it if it is intentional

I don't care about all the hubbub surrounding the Green Tint controversy. I think it looks fine and cannot wait to get this tomorrow.

I agree, just got confirmation of mine shipping as well, $41.99 plus tax was a steal for this set. Clearly the paying in-store was the way to go with that coupon from a few months ago.

+1. I'll be enjoying the films while the others will continue to bicker on both sides of the argument. I'm looking forward to the Costa Botes docs, too, because I didn't pick up the limited edition DVDs that held them.

Actually, that TE screencap appears to be identical to the actual TE version.

Ok, I was confused about some of the posts a while ago, where people were not able to read the last page of the thread...
but now I can't open the last page of the thread unless I'm in the post reply screen

I think this thread is breaking the forum

Show me a single review in which they say it doesn't look great. Even if you do show me one there will still be at least 5 reviews of people who have the set who say it looks great.

Don't say Kenneth Brown, because he still gives the video score a 4.0 and overall makes the point that it looks great.

Here is his quote if you need a reminder:
"Altered color timing aside, The Fellowship of the Ring has, quite frankly, never looked as strong, confident and capable as it does here. There are a few ragged edges, a few flaws here and there, but nothing that should prevent anyone from enjoying the upgrade the new transfer offers."

EDIT: There now is a review from Nate Boss who says he does not like the new look of the video. He chastises PJ's color revision.
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/4590..._extended.html

I fully expect this to become the new review that the haters latch on to.
Off the top of my head of the limited impressions we have at this point, Matt Stevens flat out thought the green tint was terrible, Ken has made it obvious that all signs point to error in his opinion, one guy over at AVS today generally had good things to say, but also made it clear that the tint was a concern including such comments as 35% looks fine, but 65%(!!!!!) looked off to some degree due to the tint and also wonders just how much better it would look without the tint and another viewer with the disc at AVS (his comments were linked here which you must have missed) flat out thought the tint looked terrible.......those are just off the top of my head. Opinions are going to be all over the map and allready are. I would agree with you that most will like it or not be bothered, but plenty will not be happy as well. The real question though becomes how much better would this have looked if not for the global ugly green tint? As good as this may or may not look, no doubt it would look MUCH better without this error (or what is most likely an error I should say).

And by these screen-shots an new idea was implemented into my mind.
No one has applied green/cyan tint on E.E.
They just abstracted red/brown tint from T.E. and ... voilą!!

Inception.I knew this film was somehow real..

Given his history on multiple home theater forums, Matt Stevens is a bit of a lunatic and his opinions can't be trusted.

Just one quote from the highdefdigest review...(I mentioned the
problem of underexposure in certain scenes a couple of times in this
thread) >>>

Quote:
The random darkness of the film also got to me, especially when Gandalf first knocks on Bilbo's door, as that shot looks the same on this release as it would if you watched the Theatrical Blu-ray wearing sunglasses, and that isn't even an exaggeration.
