Anyway, I went ahead and ordered a copy, as I just like the HK packaging much better than the fugly US/UK Collector's Edition. If it turns out to be a decent release I'll sell off my UK CE for real cheap...

FMTTM was not present in the Hong Kong Netflix release.

I love the design of the Hong Kong set. If it includes Fly Me to the Moon, it’s worth getting alongside either the US or UK edition.

Many Hong Kong Blu-ray releases are direct ports of Japanese editions, though. So it’s still a possibility.

Most of them are not. Only some Ghibli titles use the JP BD encodes.

Well as I said, I ordered it specifically for the packaging and subtitles, basically as a substitute for the non-English JP release, and really could care less about Fling My Ass Over The Moon or a dub... I'll still have the Platinum DVDs for the moon music, and the UE boxset for the dubs.

My disc 5 was covered in fingerprints and has a couple of scratches. I'm playing both movies now to make sure they play without any issues. The fingerprint issue is becoming more and more common recently.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect Fly Me to the Moon to be on the collectors sets. They are 100% going to do what they did with the new dub. (Replace the ending with the Rei theme and mute out the song entirely when it's used as a background song in the show. Specifically the Misato/Kaji date episode for example.)

Just wanted to quickly mention, I rcv'd my replacement copy for the Stnd ed this afternoon from Amz.ca.
Though the flimsy plasti-wrap still has me suspicious of the source, all discs are included this time and no scratches/fingerprints.

Hope to spin it up tomorrow to check it out.

I can (not) afford the Collector's Edition Blu-ray from Right Stuf right now.
I hope they make another version with the Classic Versions and the EoE Video Version, or that this Collector's Edition is not actually limited.

I also hope for similar Blu-ray releases of the Rebuild films from GKIDS. One that includes both FUNimation and Amazon dubs for the first three films, and all three dubs for Q.
I would also wish for 4K UHD releases for at least Q and Shin.

Just learned about the Hong Kong release, and the ambiguity on whether or not it'll maintain its original music. If it happens to sell out before we get to know one way or another...what a risk.

Yeah that's what I'm worried about too... I don't really care for Fly Me to the Moon as much as others (I still haven't even finished the whole series) but in the event IT DID have the coveted song - it'd be a mad awesome flex if I had that Hong Kong release to go along with my Ultimate Edition and Collectors Edition

Pretty sure it won't have FMTTM - but I've never watched the original NGE series, so I have absolutely no nostalgic ties to the soundtrack, and honestly, I don't care for the song itself anyway, so to hear it every episode would probably be more like torture to my ears...

Besides, I marathon all my anime like a movie, so I listen to the OP and ED only once in the first episode, and then skip past them all after that. The Skip Forward button on all my remotes have the arrows worn completely off, I use it so much, lol.

Me either. I never even realized it was Jennifer's musical door chime in WKRP. As for being used in the Eva end credits, the song never felt like it matched tonally with the series... so my ears would just gloss over it when the credits came up.

When people here started wondering what are they going to do with FMTTM when it plays during the actual series- I never noticed it was used elsewhere.

Gah. Still waiting on my zavvi set, they charged me for it on the 2nd novembre. Hmmm, it might’ve gone AWOL.

So I really am having issues with this set and need help with what next steps I should take. Here's how it's glitching on me:

So far I have only watched the first and third disc. This is on the third in episode 19, which was a floater and was scratched and it happens similarly on the first, which was in fine condition, during a cut to black. It only happens on one of my two players, but it happens exactly the same every time and can be paused and taken frame by frame which again is exactly the same.

Should I just return the whole set to Shout and get another?
