I'll bet my left nut that well see an announcement that Speilberg will be directing the new Star Wars flm. First off Lucas trusts him, second Lucas, Speilberg and Kennedy have major history. It's a marriage meant to be.

Somewhere, JJ Abrams is pissed that he's "stuck" with Star Trek.

I hope so, if anyone can do it right, he can, I mean he basically idolizes George, he is a fan himself as well, what more could we want, lol! We don't need a big blockbuster director, we just need someone who can please the fans and make sure it's right! Dave is that guy! Spielberg would be great too however he hasn't been in the Star Wars loop for a while, besides having ET's in Episode 1, lol!!

Star Wars was his baby and he was always saying it was his way or the highway. They're "his" films and "his" alone and that everyone else should deal with it when he decides to change it on a whim.

Just surprises me that he's ready to let go. Sure, he got a huge chunk of change, but still.

I loved Prometheus! Robin Hood sucked, yes but what about Alien, Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, etc? No director has a perfect track record!!

Mark Hamill better get his fat ass on a treadmill before they even consider talking to him. Even if he comes back as an Obi-Wan old man, dude is way to out of shape to be a Jedi.

I'll be seeing it. I just hope it makes more sense of the 1st.

Scott just forgot why people like Robin Hood. And he casted an actor that is the antithesis of Robin Hood.

Speaking of inventions, the word droid was invented by Lucas, and if you spot in the Droid commercials it says property of Lucasfilm, so does that mean it will say Lucasfilm and Disney now?

Yeah I saw that on Starwars.com it's the landing page right now, or it was earlier today anyways might have changed since then.

Isn't "droid" just an abbreviation of android? Not sure how you can trademark an abbreviation of an existing word.

If we get another Star Wars film that actually has Mark Hamill reprising the role of Luke Skywalker, I will go insane. Talk about something being on a list of things I thought would never, ever happen.

Not sure, but I have always looked at the bottom of those commercials and it says Lucasfilm has a trademark on the word "droid"

Ridley Scott is great. I'll start with that.

He would make a terrible Star Wars film in my opinion. The pace of his films vs. the original trilogy is almost at opposite ends of the scale. Both work in the films they're in, but are not compatible.

Now, I'm only familiar with his popular films too, but he seems a very (and very good) R-rated (MPAA) director to me. Is Star Wars PG, or PG13+? Either way, I don't think he could handle the family audience well.

I've never shown my kids a Ridley Scott film.
