If they hadn't been made in the opposite order, I'd think the Rob Bottin Arnold head from the opening bit of Total Recall was based directly on that Kindergarten Cop shot.

I wish the original total recall had a head case too. It should be that lady's head Arnold was using which opens up and the movie is inside. I hope this predator head is better than that predator head DVD set.

That would be awesome-ly expensive

Better if you wanted no picture detail at all

The original release captures the look and feel of the movie perfectly, and apart from a few minor compression issues it's a lot better than the waxy ultimate edition.

Wait, he's in PR and doesn't give BS answers? Right... (Sorry, I trust Studio PR and Marketing as much as personal injury lawyers.)

There is no magic wand that will make Predator look like a new film on Blu-ray,all I can see is a slight improvement over the original release with some of the compression artifacts removed.

A higher bitrate, larger disc and the VC-1 codec should also help matters a little, but Predator is a movie that can only ever look so good due to it's filming conditions,in my opinion.

VC-1? is it 2008??? AVC and a new master would make the grain less clumpy, it would be finer but there still will be a ton.
If a film like Evil Dead can look like a new release there is no reason Predator with the same care cannot look better.

I went to SDCC few weeks ago and got the chance to talk to someone that looked to be the manager of the Predator 3D Booth. I first started out by referencing the "Ultimate Edition" and the problems with the edition's transfer being DNR'd to heck and back. His response was a very sincere "mistakes were made on that release" which quite honestly took me by surprise. But than I remembered that 20th Century Fox has been re-issueing their controversial BluRays with better/different video transfers that seem to get better praise on release, so I was glad he said they re-scanned the film and won't repeat the same mistake."

The unnamed booth manager he refers to was probably a 3D Systems tech employee running the equipment for the figurine face photos depicted in blogs and You Tube videos, and not a Fox spokesman. The 3D Systems Tech guy was probably expressing a personal opinion. On the other hand, it may have been Conor Sellers, a Fox Entertainment Publicity Director. http://news.cnet.com/2300-10797_3-10017586-2.html Without attribution, I wouldn't read too much into it.
Mistakes is an understatement lol.

Ron Epstein talked to people in Fox and they said that the new release is from a new 4K transfer, that pretty much settles that debate.

Fox have been going back and fixing all their bad catalog releases over two years or so. They fixed The French Connection and Patton. The UHE is one of Fox's worst offenders when it comes to Blu-Rays.

Here's hoping that Fox go back and fix The Longest Day at some point too.

People said the same thing about The Terminator and look how well that turned out.

Predator can easily look just as good if it was transferred properly from the OCN.

No one's expecting it to look like Oblivion or whatever.
I want it to look like a modern transfer, not a modern film.

It's a slight Teal push, the whole image isn't engulfed in it.

I'm on about the level of detail not the colour timing.
