I think it was a newer scan from an IP. I'd assume that the transfer for the UHD release of the theatrical or extended cut will blow everything else away.

They said it was an IP for the TV cut but it may well have been an IP of the dupe neg used to assemble that cut as it looks pretty rough, but not in a bad way. It's like watching a print and it's got a certain amount of charm as a result.

Same. I usually always opt for a theatrical cut.

Not much charm in that mono audio though. Hearing that magnificent score downgraded like that...

Should have been in 2.0 stereo, even if it was only the music.

Are you talking about Star Trek? The day Star Trek The Motion Picture (1979) is announced on UHD BD I'll be a very happy guy.

The whole thing's a curio at best anyway so the botched audio doesn't bother me.

I'm really looking looking forward to the original audio mix. Even though the Anthology set has the original audio in 2.0, when played back in a unfolded stereo matrix surround mode the front channels bleed into the rear. You can basically hear the same information in the surrounds as you do the front speakers. The audio is horrible like that.

It's the Breaking Bad "You're g-dd--- right" gif.

I will say that the Blade Runner remix is not great when not listening on an actual Atmos setup. Not sure what went wrong, but I had to crank up my center channel audio on my 5.1 system to hear the dialog properly.

I'm not the only one with this problem btw, and it's a shame, because like you said, the mix is apparently great in Atmos.

LOL thanks for the description.

Yes, I've only watched it on my ATMOS setup and it's stunning.

I am envious and can't wait to eventually get an Atmos setup of my own

For now, though, I do really love my 5.1.

I actually enjoyed it too, but I also enjoy Terminator 1 remix, so what do I know... Not advocating against inclusion of original mixes, though.

Yeah, it is always preferable to have the original mix.

That said, in the case of Blade Runner, things are all weird, because a purist such as myself has no idea what to do. I don't want to watch the "original" (theatrical) version because it sucks, but other versions aren't the original. So I just let my rules slide for this particular movie. That said, it would be preferable for the Final Cut's original mix to be included, of course.
