HA! I was actually debating getting the standard edition because I don’t want the box with the Humphreys artwork, and I’m not the biggest fan of this film (more of a HOWLING guy.) But after viewing it on Amazon a few weeks ago, now I realize I not only want to own this blu ray edition, I also want the booklet and the postcards (perhaps I can sell off the box at some point).

The mono soundtrack, video extras, and the screen caps from Mondo Digital sold me.

I've wanted to do a movie marathon with all three 1981 werewolf films (AWIL, The Howling and Wolfen) but I jumped the gun and popped in my copy of The Howling yesterday - still a great watch. Wolfen is my least favorite of the trifecta but it's still a classic in my book.

Watched my copy (from Diabolik) over the weekend. Looks amazing. It's great to finally own this in a definitive edition.

There's an improvement in look regardless if a 4k restoration is released on Blu or UHD. Also this was scanned at 4k and finished at 2k. A UHD would be lovely but this works, especially because it's been done right and doesn't stink.

I don't have my copy yet but everything points to this being the definitive edition. I don't think I'll be needing an eventual UHD from Universal especially considering it'll likely have some kind of fault or lack special features. End of the line for AWIL for me.

I haven't seen the disc yet, but looking at the caps and knowing how good Arrow's encoding is, I cannot imagine this looking any better in 1080p. This is one the relatively rare instances where true optimization of the format took place.

Pretty much if a UHD of a movie isn't happening, it needs a disc like this.

I'm watching my copy now and this transfer is a revelation! The annoying filtering issue from the Universal release is now gone and is replaced with beautiful filmic grain! The mono sounds great too. This turned out to really be the blu ray release of the year for me and one of my favorite blu ray sets in general. Thank you Arrow! Gorgeous package.

Yeah, watched mine last night and it's just delightful. I've of course seen it, but I don't think I've ever truly watched this before, but I was hooked. There should be no complaints about this presentation.
