I don't care what pretty much any single reviewer says because I own plenty of discs people say are "terrible" but they're the only way to own them on blu-ray. I buy the movies for the movies. I don't need the things I like to be validated by others. I think there are plenty of people that do the same. I dunno, having 43k subs for reviewing a disc isn't impressive, but I'm also not really impressed by people that are, like, world record cup stackers or whatever. It's not my thing, so the prestige of it doesn't matter one iota.

The freebies are part of it, sure, but it's more that he's showered with this stuff yet doesn't have the foggiest idea of what he's got and how to appreciate it properly, that's what winds me up.

Why so many subs? Eh. People naturally gravitate towards those who sound like they know what they're talking about (ahem) and YouTube has accelerated this process tenfold because as soon as you put your face in front of a camera it seems to reassure people even more, that if this person has the guts to put themselves out there then they must know what they're talking about...right?

There's a YouTube channel that's been putting out hilariously awful BD vs UHD comparisons for years (skewing the UHD into completely the wrong colour space) yet regularly racks up tens of thousands of views for each video because the average person knows next to nothing about this stuff (that's not me throwing shade, it's the truth), and so if someone's putting it on the 'tube then it must be gospel...right?

Just listening to him stammer his way through describing the audio and how "maybe if they would have done a restored Atmos or even remastered the audio here" is enough to realize how little credibility this guys has.

It sounds like this has some mild filtering in some scenes? If so, I'll never understand why this is done. Just leave the grain intact and give the best scan possible without filtering. I'd rather watch a grainy ass film than one that has been filtered any day of the week.

Just watching my copy in the UK from hmv and there's a fault on the disc at 1:00:59 in the wishing well. Discs freezes for a second. Can anyone else confirm if they have same fault?

I contemplated making one but 90% of my reviews would be “it’s great! Buy it” or “eh, don’t bother” with the understanding that I like grain, and that can just be accomplished here with much less stress.

You're a dedicated man. My (lone) zavvi Goonies steelbook turned up, very pleased with how quick they're sending stuff out at the moment. HMV Betelguese cine edition hasn't showed up though.

If the pause is only a second I wouldn't worry too much about it. Have you replayed the scene to see if it happen again? Maybe it was just a one time glitch.
