That’s it, same here. Am not sure of the benefit of paypal but I did that.[/QUOTE]

In my case, I can use Amex through PP and get reward points. Since they didn't offer me that option, I am going to speak to them to see if I can change payment method.

I’m a sucker for pre-ordering new tech so in spite of myself I might have placed an order of Sony had sent me an invite on day one. But I’ve taken the last few days to actually look at what’s coming out for this thing and I’ll wait it out just like I did with the original PSVR.

Ultimately the price and the lack of software that appeals to me has allowed cooler heads to prevail, but it got me thinking—is there one killer app that would get me to pre-order this with no questions asked? And I realized the answer is yes. A full-on 3D recreation of the mansion and surrounding environs from the GameCube remake of Resident Evil that can be freely explored in VR. I don’t even care if they port the game itself. I just want to explore that damn mansion in VR!

The RE4 remake will have VR content, but they said nothing about the original RE4 coming to psvr2, right?

So check this out.

A couple of weekends ago, my friend came in from out of town and we booked a couple of sessions at this place: https://www.virtropolisvr.com/

As I spoke to the owner, she informed me that her son works in California as a visual effects artist on motion pictures and that they are very much in the gaming development community. If you look at the games they offer, they are exclusive to their location. This means that they specifically know developers at Ubisoft and are developing games with their feedback. These are multiplayer 1-hour VR experiences. Not multiplayer shooting arcade style games. Teamwork puzzle solving, climbing, etc.

I took my two sons and we played the Beyond Medusa's Gate and Prince of Persia: The Dagger Of Time. Both games were freaking cool and the four of us had a blast. Apparently, these games are only for venues, but I don't see any reason why these types of experiences couldn't be developed by Ubisoft (of all developers) for console VR gaming.

Anyway, I thought I'd share.

I never got any e-mail to pre-order one. I got 2 for PS5 (one after I already had bought one from Sony). I registered now. Hoping this doesn't get super scalped like the PS5 and Last of Us Firefly.

Sales seem decent, but they're not sold out instantly which is about normal for a VR device vs the nearly instantly sold out PS5 consoles that you still cannot find when walking into a walk in store. I've never seen a single PS5 yet at any walk in store. Just an empty space always, and it's almost 3 years later... That's not good for sales numbers, Sony, with the timing of this new device that requires the PS5. Sony is betting of the 6 million plus with a PS5, will want to invest in the $599 PSVR2 add on VR device in the quantity of 2 million worldwide.

I hope PSVR2 does well, but the timing is often critical along with the game library in the first year.

Exploring the house in RE7 VR was a grueling experience, and not pleasant, with that lunatic father after the player every few minutes.

RE8 looks like you have some downtime to admire the mansion.
No word on a RE1 VR version. The last remake I believe is in the old style of the game's fixed camera views.

That's cool, thanks for the info.
Surprising to hear Ubisoft offers games for that place exclusively.
Some interesting types of games. One is even called Cyberpunk, but it's not the same as the console game.
I imagine they sanitize the VR headsets every time.

As far as PSVR2, I'd like a VR game where I can walk through a forest, looking at all of the animal life like frogs, bugs on the ground, ants climbing trees, birds nesting and chirping, chipmunks running about, and snakes sneaking through the leaves. Then you could be any of the animals if you wanted, similar to that Away game, but photo realistic VR graphics.

Just not much traffic in the PS5 forums could be one reason.
What game are you looking to play first if you're getting PSVR2?

Thanks, oh well, I just find it odd to have to go hunting for the thread. Animals in the forest sounds like a nice, laid back experience. I look forward to Resident Evil 4 but not as much for Village due to me finding the game to be tedious. Besides those:

Horizon Call Of The Mountain
Ghost Busters
The Dark Pictures Switchback

That's not much to look forward to. Sony should have had another Blood & Truth on the release list. What are they waiting for? Hopefully, there will be some surprises announced before February 23rd. For me, games that are already on Quest 2 like Star Wars are way down the list even though they will be enhanced. I remember you saying that there is not enough AAA games on the list. You are right.

I'm new to the vr scene so it's all good news to me. I'll probably try that Star Wars game at launch along with Horizon, and ideally a horror game, I guess that Dark Pictures game. And curious to try some Resident Evil 4 and Village when they get their VR modes patched in.

Thanks JBug. That sounds like a good start for your VR games.
I didn't know Ghostbusters was in VR, that's cool.
Horizon VR looks promising.
Yes, hopefully Sony gets some new big games released in 2023, and somehow gets AAA developers on board. Thankfully, as with the PSVR, the smaller developers are the ones who provide 95% of the gaming content versus 5% or less from 3rd party AAA developers, who are even missing in action for PS5 specific games too, which will be the standard expectation until PS5 is maybe in its 5th year alongside PS4's extra long lifespan understandably due to the issues with most people finding a retail priced new PS5.

The horror immersion within Resident Evil 7 in PSVR1 is intense, as you're wandering the hallway and then are suddenly attacked in virtual 3D space. In RE4 and RE8, that will not only be much more clear, sharp and higher resolution than anything PSVR1 could ever achieve with the pixelated low resolution of RE7 VR, but you'll also have more control over weapons with the new hand controllers of PSVR2. So definitely an improvement expected overall with PSVR2's horror games.

The PSVR2's tracking improvements will be a major improvement over PSVR's clumsy camera tracking that often had the controlled object float out of view if the camera lost track of the light bar on the PS4 controller.

Vin, the Star War games are very solid and even though I am not a big SW, movie person, they truly made the games feel like the SW universe. It would be nice if the put all the games together. On Quest 2 they are separate.

Great points that make you want February 23rd to come quicker. The feedback from the headset and controllers will seal the deal.

The biggest thing was just going through that door into a darkened room at the very start. Slightly tense flat, in VR, nerve wracking!

I’m slightly jealous that you get to experience it for the first time. I will never forget my early experiences in VR.

Yes, that is memorable. I started with the Astrobot VR Demo, which includes 4 mini games. The first one I played is the haunted mansion one, as you walk towards the house. Looking around at the stereo 3D objects and seeing how the head set simulates your exact movements of your face was really cool. Then no matter where you look, you're completely inside the video game space. Cool stuff.

I'm good with the slower paced things, but have to avoid fast movement games unfortunately in VR, due to motion sickness in VR. I think I will stand up and see if that helps avoid it next time I play RE7 VR and have to run in that garage with the father chasing the player with the car. The liquid balancers in my ears sent the signal that I was moving, but since I was just sitting down, it messed with my sense of motion, much like trying to read a book in a car that is turning and the sense of gravity takes over. You are lucky to not feel any sense of motion sickness at all with VR.

Yeah, Astrobot was mind blowing. It was a no brainer that it eventually got a full game.

Yes, I was really glad to hear that game was made into a full game, Astrobot Missions VR, eventually. Still my favorite single game on PSVR. Amazing game, with incredible replay value. The bonus missions alone are a full game in themselves. Then with 5 planets and about 4 zones each, awesome, lengthy game experience. It took me 20+ hours of play time to complete the game I believe.

If PSVR2 had Astrobot Missions 2, I'd definitely have more interest as it would checkmark a must have game.

What is your favorite PSVR game if you could only ever keep 1 game?

I’m assuming that you need to use a wireless headset with this, or does it have a place to plug in a wired headset like the controller?
