Since everyone was too self absorbed to reply to my request for a recommendation and instead want to endlessly post " hey look at me, I bought something" lists, I went over to diabolik and pre-ordered The Tough Ones , Robowar and The Night Killer, I don't need any of this trash syndrome.

Christopher doesn't hate VS, or CR or DF for that matter. He does have a long history of playing devil's advocate, when it comes to agitating about a company's perceived failing. He'll say what he doesn't like, in a way that could be construed as extreme criticism when, actually, he just isn't happy with something happening right now but, otherwise, really likes that vendor.

I have to say, I understand the impulse to criticize a catalogue, on the whole, when I start to notice a lot of films I don't want or genuinely dislike (and I at least "like" almost everything). However, VS, CR, Scorpion and now DF are all adept at selecting different kinds of films to appeal to all kinds of people. We're not all going to want all of them, but we don't have to, if they appeal to many types of tastes, catching sales from different people on different releases.

As example, I won't be purchasing David's Ator, as it is genuinely one of the handful of films I've hated in thousands upon thousands of films. I won't buy Bill's Waterpower because it's disgusting, or, rather, meets my threshold for what qualifies as disgusting, which is an admittedly high threshold. I still think both companies are great.

Also, did anyone else notice you've all been talking about VS in the Dark Force thread all day long?

That release of GATES OF HELL interests me because it will reportedly contain PSYCHO FROM TEXAS, which I want. Therefore, I'll be owning it, and I'm sure I'll watch their version of the Fulci film just to see how it plays (I already own the Arrow LE, which will forever be my go-to). As for other titles DF releases that you claim no one wanted, remember that your least favorite movies have fans.

Additionally, your beef with DeFalco is such that you're blinded with loathing, which subsequently renders your opinions of his business null and void, in my opinion. His business practices never affected me negatively in the slightest, and I'm not sure that we would've seen COPKILLERS (among others) hit BD were not for DeFalco and his influence on Bill. Again, any company that delivers these types of films shouldn't be badgered and ridiculed by so-called fans of such films. You prodded a pro wrestler and got some verbal abuse in return. What did you think would happen, professor? Think.

I can't believe you bothered to respond with what amounts to: "It's possible that someone else might have released the titles Dark Force has released, because there are other companies that release older cult films." There's absolutely no way to know if the titles I'm talking about would have ever come out from another label. Additionally, with Bill's extreme health issues, it's likely that we wouldn't have seen any Code Red titles surface at all were not for Dark Force. Come on, guy.

Maybe I don't share the collective bitterness people have on this thread for two key reasons:

1. Whenever I go to the Dark Force store, it's open and I can get what I want. I can't get behind all the simpering concerning the store closures because I've never had to face it.

2. I don't badger people who look like they could rip the asspipe out of a running buffalo, so I don't incur subsequent abuse or threats. From what I've seen here, the wrath some of you have incurred from Mr. DeFalco was understandable, if not altogether warranted.

As for content of films, Vinegar Syndrome finds the greatest prints no doubt about it, pristine PQ on their releases , however during the last sale I didn't buy a single title, with a very few exceptions I don't get excited about anything in their catalog. They dress them up and have good marketing but the content is truly bottom of the barrel.

Code Red on the other hand have tons of hits, I own probably 100 or more Code Red Bru lays.

Vinegars catalog pales in comparison.
Hard to believe but I agree with you 100 percent Christophah. Speaking strictly as fan, Vinegars catalog totally pales in comparison to Code Red. It's actually a fact that Vinegar went and released several titles Code Red previously put out and NEVER the other way around. No one has a better knowledge of genre and cult titles than the Olsen brothers. NO ONE. That is a fact well known throughout this industry. Spot on post Christophah, I may turn that title belt over to you.

Hang on a sec there Jope. This is no inferior version of GATES OF HELL by any means. Again as a true fan I felt all the versions with the main title CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD were inferior just because of that main title. GATES OF HELL is one of the best horror titles on earth and the movie is one of the best horror movies ever made. It needs that title though to be complete. Kind of like how THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE would never be the same without that title. So this point alone makes our new release far from inferior. But add the fact that it is a US theatrical print that played the drive-ins and has a great grindhouse look and feel. PLUS no one thought it could be done but we managed to get the color looking great again in PSYCHO FROM TEXAS. A new drive-in intermission created by cult director extraordinaire Damon Packard. And finally an amazing looking customized slipcover, GATES OF HELL never looked this damn good!

On a footnote, we probably will not be re-releasing Zombie Nightmare. We have just learned that Code Red has a ton of unsold inventory.

Previously released DVDs perhaps but I can’t think of a single double dip blu-ray other than Don’t Answer The Phone which was from Scorpion. Everything else that VS has upgraded is unique to them - at least in region A. And the titles they do put out like Mountaintop Motel Massacre which had a foreign release, are given new superior scans.

I’ve got nothing bad to say about the Code Red catalog but I own a lot more VS. Debating catalogues is frivolous as it’s subjective. Scream has probably the “best” catalogue but I’ve only bought three movies from them this year.

Anyway pretty good deal on Nailgun Massacre. Trying to find something to bundle with it.

On a separate issue, to Mirror Mirror, I would just like to remind everyone at Dark Force that, when wonderful Manzy was unavailable for a physical interview, owing to having moved to Texas, having become a beloved math teacher, and really not being in a position to travel to LA for a special feature, they simply recorded, with his permission, a phone call interview for The Baby. That stands as one of my favourite special features of all time.

If it is difficult to get full commentary or in-person interviews, please remember that you can speak to these people on the phone and record the phone calls, with their permission, or you can conduct interviews similar to your live feeds, where you record images of the movie while talking to them on your phone.

Please don't rush to release Mirror Mirror prior to exhausting all opportunities for the coveted Rainbow Harvest interview, as that interview will boost sales in the long term and is of actual value. Personally, I'm always interested in the story of anyone who walked away from fame and acting and found happiness doing something else, like David Mooney, a genuinely happy math teacher, who, with all his talent and potential to entertain, truly couldn't have made a better choice and has led a very good life.

Wait a minute someone thinks Vinegar Syndrome's catalog pales in comparison to Code Red's?

Code Red has some really solid titles but VS still kicks their arse.

Code Reds catalogue is better, in my opinion, by a mile. This month for VS was especially terrible.
