I felt the CB-10s had better control over the mids then the CB-20s, to me the CB-20s were a little loose in the bass and it muddied the upper mid-bass detail. Of course Im being an audiophile idiot, but the CB-10s seem to still be a little loose bass, but less of it giving more mid-range.

Look at the fool who owns Dynaudio speakers what does he know about speaker

Sorry i was never able to compare the CB-10 with the CB-20 but I will take your word for it so OP the CB-10 maybe slighly better evn if smaller than the CB-20. the Very soft cone may explain this. I think they should have use a stiffer material.

I'm going to go from the 5.1 to the 7.1. So I could go with the CB-5 or CB-10 or CB-20 to use as the fronts or maybe the CR-10 as the surround. Sorry that I didn't state that before.

My opinion, get the cb-10 and use them for you fronts, maybe the cc-10 center down the road.

I guess my question doesn't really matter right now since all of the prices went back up. Darn it.

Get this instead for 250, absolutely worth it. it's 50$ more than the CB-20 but so far superior, I hope you can stretch your budget by 50$

This sub is also a killer deal.

I used the Energy CB-20's for a small office rig. They performed very well but the bass was a little loose at times. One day I decided to hook them up in my main rig and was a little surprised of how well they performed. It is amazing what current and an open room does for a speaker. I ran them off an HK 3390 2 channel receiver in my office. When I hooked them up to the B&K ref 2220, they opened up and had much more controlled bass. Enery has nice highs to me. The midrange had more slam to it when hooked up to the amp. The bass extension was better as well and had more controlled. I was throughly impressed with the bookies. I had them on a set of Pangea LS02 speaker stands filled with lead shot and spiked. I know they are a fairly efficient speaker but they definitely performed well with more current. I am debating whether to keep them or not for a future rig being that I have already sold the HK.

My new issue is the placement of the surround backs. I posted a reply in the speaker placement thread and wondered, given your experience with Energy speakers and speakers in general, if you might have any suggestions for me. Here's a link to the thread:

Hi John,

How possible is it for you to move the couch away from the back wall?

I would do pretty much the same you had at the other place if you can't have clearance, i am not sure 7.1 is the way to go in that room but ceiling mounting looks like the option.

Cost is important. But size it what really matters most. I live in an apartment. Which is why I choose the Take 5 Classic's. They opened up much needed floor space. I have the front 2 located on corner shelves(like these) http://www.menards.com/main/tools-ha...04-c-12169.htm

I think you should jump on the RC-10 in this case and never look back, they are no bigger than the CR-10. and they sound phenominal, much much better.

Usually corners are not ideal placemnt for speakers. JM 2cents

The only thing I could think of to do would be to place a sofa table behind the couch. Mounting on the ceiling isn't really an option because it's vaulted and very high. Is there any reason why i couldn't simply tilt the speakers downward where they are?

I think you did a very good job, the reason why I thaught of that was to get more sound dispwersion so you have a better surround effect and you don't have them directly radiating in your ears but I am sur it sounds great as is.

It really does, especially after I did the subwoofer crawl. The position of the sub in the room really blends the low frequency well with all speakers. I feel like I'm missing a little bit from the surround backs simply because the sound feels like it goes over my ears. I may just tilt them down slightly and see how it works.

Also, once I get a proper TV stand to place all of the A/V components together in the center, I'll move the fronts apart a bit more and widen the soundfield. Once I get a new camera I'll take some better pics. These were all taken on my smart phone.

I suppose I'll have to take a few pictures and let people see how I have things set up.
