Thanks, man! I'm in the one department that has not been touched.....yet, anyway. Up to twenty firings now with second shift coming in. One more hour. I think I have survived this crazy and sad day - along with my mother and my wife, who both work here, too. Huge sigh of relief, especially considering we've all been here about twenty years.

It did, doesn't mean individual companies aren't still letting employees go right now.

We have a $10 million cut coming our way in the new fiscal year. They are talking that they are going to let part time people go and might even cancel some of our new hires.
Just another reason why I am hoping to get that new job. Better job security among many other perks.

Well, our company was sold last month. The new owners are kind of cleaning house to drastically reduce overhead and streamline everything to their liking.

In 2001/2002 - they cut 25% of our workforce...if you remember it was a crazy time in the US. I was sweating for 2 years....but luckily I was ok.
