I think Enemies Closer is really underrated. The pacing is great and I think that actually has one of his best performances as well. Definitely one of his best DTV's, in my opinion.

This is the truth. Very true. It's what sets him apart. Nobody is saying he is Daniel Day Lewis, but as you rightly pointed out, he could show vulnerability and do so convincingly. That horrific scene in 'Cyborg' where he is crucified is one such example.

I'll have to see this film based on what you've said. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

The pressure is on. Haha He plays a great kooky villain in it. Plus, it's only like 80 min so it moves right along. No extra fluff.

Enemies Closer is a lot of fun. Van Damme kills it! Like that one very much.

I didn't like Enemies Closer myself, but for Van Damme completists, he does give an eccentric tongue-in-cheek performance.

Even more comic is his support work in Welcome to the Jungle.

He has a range Seagal could only dream of.

Any chances that Jean-Claude Van Johnson will ever be released on blu-ray?!

Are you talking about the JCVD movie? If so then it’s already on Bluray.

With it being an amazon show and that it got canceled after one season I doubt it will get a Bluray release. Most shows that are made from places like amazon usefully don’t get physical releases.

That's sad news. Was hoping I could add this to my physical JCVD collection.

His Amazon series was so much more playful and ridiculous than I ever expected. I was very sad to see it get cancelled.

I thought the first episode was great but after that, it was pretty uneven for me. Still, it was enjoyable and would have loved to get some more episodes.

Amazon didn't really give it very much time before pulling the plug. I wonder if the budget was higher than most of their shows due to Van Damme's salary.

I thought it maintained the quality throughout and was hilarious. I had tears in my eyes from laughing during the blind folded drift race scene in the second episode when they showed what really happened.

Not Blu-ray news but hot damn, his new movie, Lukas aka The Bouncer, looks great. Thrilled he’s doing another French flick. The teaser alone makes it look like it could be his best since JCVD.

Evidently Jeff Bezos pulled the plug on not only JCVJ, but all of Amazon's slate of original shows then in production up through the fall of 2017 (except for the multiple-Emmy-winning critical darling Transparent) for two reasons:

1. Former Amazon Studios executive Roy Price (who greenlit Jean-Claude Van Johnson and the other shows) got fired in the wake of the #MeToo scandal, and the mass-cancellations were seen as a way of the company "cleaning house" of Price's rancid stench, and:

2. Bezos also committed nearly $1 billion (literally) of Amazon's money to the IP-rights and development/production of their newly-acquired Lord of the Rings television series, which is gonna soak up a huge chunk of their resources for the foreseeable future, here.

So it was actually several different, converging factors which lead to the cancellation of JCVJ, sadly, according to industry reporting.

If #1 is true then that's pathetic. Thousands of people lose their jobs because of one a-hole trying to pretend another a-hole didn't exist?

I'm trying to think which ticks me off most, 1 or 2. 1 billion for rights? You got to be kidding me. People have already got so much good LOTR material after six long movies. We already have a glut of awesome tv series that you just can't keep up with as it is, how could they ever recoup that from anything they make to their relatively limited market when that doesn't even cover production.
