Should be automatic like all Amazon Preorder guarantees, but might as well wait since I don't think it's going to sell out anytime soon (or sell out and stay OOS) if you want the regular case,.

I just checked teh BW thread and it looks like the 6800Y price showed up 2-3 days after it was originally listed

Several people also mentioned their prices auto-adjusted

It’s really not that big of a deal to watch with subs on the whole time, is it? Certainly not worth missing out on the 3D over…?

It’s frustrating for sure but it is so bad to watch the film with the English subs turned on? I know they can distract from the viewing experience but having recently rewatched all my Chinese 3-D titles I found they didn’t bother me. Squid Game, My Name and others on Netflix, all viewed with subs and not a problem. Turning the subs on and off manually would be a nuisance and more of a a distraction I think. The fact we’re actually getting this release at all is a miracle in itself and I’m really looking forward to an awesome 3-D presentation.

Luckily it’s not as bad Wes Craven’s My Soul to Take 3D that has forced French subs when you select English audio. I’ll gladly take this over that fiasco. Imagine forced Japanese subs during the English parts lol

For me yes it is. Subtitles completely distract from the movie watching experience for me. I think I'm going to cancel and just hope maybe there will be a bootleg or something that solves this in the future lol

I guess this is the end of buying Disney 3D for me. Really fricken hope James Cameron pulls some strings to bring the format back in the future, or something else happens to bring it back because this really sucks.

For me English subtitles on a Blu-Ray disc is a MUST and SHOULD always be included. Many times you can't hear what characters are saying because of accents or when they speak very low.Why would anyone complain about being able to make sure what all the characters are saying on a movie or tv show.

If english subtitles weren't on it would be a deal breaker for me. Everyone complained TENET did not have subtitles on in theaters because they could't hear or make out what characters was saying. Now we have a few people here complaining about the opposite WTF?

He's just giving an excuse to buy a bootleg because doesn't want to pay full price for originals.

That's not exactly what they're complaining about -- it's not a question of are they included or not, but how it's implemented compared to the theater

When you get older and start to have problems making out the dialogue, you might be in trouble then. Maybe you should keep a copy for when that happens; you might change your tune.

Nothing new for us hardcore collectors. I used to collect and watch Japanese VHS releases of otherwise unavailable English language cult films, all with Japanese subtitles at the bottom. I didn’t care; I was just glad to be able to watch the films. If there’s a better option, I’ll take it of course, but I can’t remotely relate to this issue being a dealbreaker if the alternative is no 3D. Nope, just can’t. “You spoiled kids don’t know how good you have it these days!”

I worked in a Chinese movie shop for a few years starting around 2000/2001. My Asian DVD collection is so big I had to throw away all the cases as I ran out of room. I still have 20 count boxes of Fruit Chan films in storage. The Chinese and Korean titles were legit but most of the Japanese stuff they’d import were those high quality bootlegs that were being manufactured using glass masters. The problem with a lot of Japanese DVD’s were the lack of both English and Chinese subs, so the local and export sales were poor unless they added them and pressed their own versions. I can’t speak on the Mandarin or Cantonese subs, but I’m sure the English weren’t done correctly on a lot of the Japanese films I watched, but was still worth it just to get an idea of what was happening. Shang-Chi is a bit different though because I wasn’t paying $100 a pop, but at least they’re in English and will be accurate.

Very interesting as not even the MovieNEX page shows that aspect ratio, but it didn't/doesn't for Black Widow either. If that's really true, especially if it's only for the Blu-ray 3D version, then we really will have been spoiled with this release. The plot thickens...

I wouldn't get my hopes up based on this. Amazon.co.jp always lists a 1.78 aspect ratio in this section. Black Widow and Infinity War are both listed as 1.78, and as we all know Infinity War is only 2.35 in all formats. Technically Black Widow isn't 1.78 either, the IMAX scenes are 1.90.

Glad to see they released this somewhere. I already pre-ordered. Haven't seen the film yet, but FAR more excited to see this than anything MCU has been offering recently.

Forced English subs would be nice, but I'll just have to switch back and forth with English Captioning when watching the first time, then after that it can be a fun learning experience to pick up some more Mandarin. I've seen Star Wars so many times I've memorized the alien dialog, and with other films as well when it's a language I am not familiar with yet. So as long as the 3D is amazing, I'll watch enough to learn the Mandarin or memorize those scenes translations. Subs are annoying when watching 3D anyway.

Damn, go away for one day and the steelbook is already gone. Any chance it will come back? Stupid question, I'm sure.

Black Widow's steelbooks returned for a few days after their release but went off stock rapidly.

The problem is that some can arrive dented.

Nobody is complaining about subtitles being included. Some people (like me) do not like to be forced to use subtitles for the full movie in order to get the translations for non-english dialogue.

I had a preorder in for the 4K+3D steelbook. The price was annoying but I was fully ready to pay for it. I will be buying the 4K steelbook from Best Buy for now.

I would rather risk that than to pay essentially more (buying the regular 4K/3D + the Best Buy Steelbook + a 3-disc Steelbook to frankenstein the Best Buy Steelbook into a 3 disc case), which is what I did for Black Widow when I missed that JP steelbook.

I'll keep a look out and hopefully grab one.

It most likely will. Everyone gets old. Can’t imagine not being good with subtitles; I’d have missed out on so many wonderful foreign films.
