What Stallone should have done instead of picking away at the film he’d already made was just give us an *extended* cut, adding back in a lot of the new material. By jacking around with what worked in the first place, he basically made an “alternate universe” cut that largely doesn’t work despite some very cool new moments.

Nah that robot crap was dumb, the funeral speech scene however is great.

The Stallone Twitter account posted BTS stuff and mentioned finding "tidbits" for the Rocky films . In one of those tweets during promotion of the Creed movies, Sly himself said MGM "found never before seen footage" for Rocky V and was setting the motions on doing a recut after completing the IV DC.

Septic media? Is there a whole new trend of air-pocket media-driven communication I have to catch up on???

Very excited for the Rocky films (well the 1st 5 films at least) coming to 4K UHD Blu-Ray Disc. I owned the 1st 5 on DVD back in the early 2000s sadly though never picked out the Blu-Rays in the 2010s. Hope the transfers are good to great in HDR 10 and the sound is great.

I would prefer them all released together. Hate when they just release some of a series.

Personally love all of the Rocky flicks. Looking forward to hopefully picking them all up in 4K.

Time consuming, but not impossible. I know from experience (not me personally, but from what editors have shown me).

I’m an editor myself. It’s not that it’s particularly time-consuming, but it’s impossible to do *unless* you do one of two things:
1. Further crop, and then scale up all DC footage to 1.85:1.
2. Crop all TC footage to 2.39:1.

Either option is horrible. That’s what I mean when I said it’s impossible. Yes, it COULD be done. But unless he releases the DC in 1.85:1, it can never truly be done properly. It’ll be a bad compromise whichever way it’s done, and it’s a problem that Stallone didn’t have to create.

Let’s hope Stallone fixes his mistake and releases his directors cut the way it was meant to be.

Someone had posted twatter screengrabs in different thread for the Rocky films in the 4k wishlist section. Not sure if that thread is still around or got merged, but I clearly remember seeing those screengrabs.

Don’t start on The Donner cut of Supes 2,how dare you! .

I really liked it, I just look past all the obvious differences (audition footage, bad special effects, re-used ending etc) and enjoy the intended narrative for what it should have been. As for Rocky IV I’ve got the recut, bought it off Apple TV (as it’s the only to see it as it never received a physical release ) but haven’t watched it yet. Haven’t fancied watching it yet!

As much as I hate to give Disney any allowances, their hands are kinda tied as far as Alien is concerned. 4K masters require directorial approval and Cameron and Fincher are perpetually busy.

That said, the possibility that we might maybe possibly potentially get The Abyss gives me a teeny bit of hope that Aliens will find its way to UHD.
