For those that bought the Target exclusive, did you notice that the Blu-ray case seems like it has a few scratches (right on the cover art) next to the back of the head of Bogart's head? I went to two different Target stores in order to exchange mine (had the same scratch-marks), and I noticed that all of the Target exclusives had the same scratch-marks on the Blu-ray case... Not a big deal, but just found it odd. Was it intentional?

I just picked it up myself and it has the same thing, but I really didn't notice it until I just read your post. It's certainly not as annoying as a big sticker right on the case.

Can I still do the price adjustment to get my five bucks back? I bought this on the first week it came out and I hear it's still $14.99 two weeks later.

Since this is Warner, I wonder if it will come with a slipcover once the Target exclusive runs out. This happened with Gremlins: exclusive to Target sans slip; regular release with slip.

the Target version of Gremlins also did not say 25th Ann on the artwork and no slip (well at least mine didnt), however the later pressings do have 25th Ann on the artwork and slipcover.

so the later repressings of the Casablanca might have the words 70th Ann on the front cover as well as a slip, the current target version does not have 70th Ann on the artwork or a slip, mine came with a sticker saying Target exclusive/70th Ann

I wonder why the Target exclusives turned out looking that way?

So are their physical scratches on the cover art, or is it actually part of the printing?

I'm not sure if you can, but worst case you can buy one right now and then return it with your old receipt. I'd of course try and get them to adjust it first.

I actually just got around to buying the single disc version. Is it just me, or does the audio sound really low? I don't know, it just doesn't sound as full and robust as other lossless mono tracks from older films. If anybody else has noticed this, please reply.

Sorry if it has been asked but is this a new transfer or the same one from the Ultimate Collector's Edition?

If you mean this UCE released in 2008:

then yes it's a completely new 4K transfer that looks completely different from the previous release. It has darker, more filmic transfer compared to the clean video look of the other.

Still waiting for a price drop on the single disc edition. It's STILL $20 everywhere. I am more than ready to get rid of the first BD release for this one.

The new one is better. The print damage when Rick first sees Ilsa at the cafe is completely gone now. Also, the really bad tear later in the film (at the Black Market) is gone completely now too.

It is a huge improvement. I was able to upgrade mine on the cheap on ebay. Completely worth it!

The new one is superior in every way. Most notable improvement of all is the lack of boosted contrast, so we get all the dark, moody, tone setting shadows we're supposed to. Really makes it feel like a different film than the previous release.

Question Any ideas what this refers to?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007XF4J70/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=

Hi all.
I just saw this on Amazon while I was considering purchasing:
+++
Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
+++

Any insight appreciated.

I have 3 versions of Casablanca which is one too many. I have that Best Buy exclusive , the UCE & the 70th anniversary editions. The problem that each has something the others do not as far as I know. I read comparisons- the collectors editions all have different goodies in them not even including in the DVD or BLu Ray
And now I will have the same problem with Wizard of Oz. I have the UCE , a Blu Ray version and the 3 disc set that came before the UCE...And I just got the Steelbook because that was awesome..
Collecting is becoming really difficult

I am pretty sure if you have the 70th Anniversary Limited Edition of Casablanca that you do not miss out on any video based extras.
