I really love the new case I picked up Wages of Fear BD today along with Science is Fiction on reg DVD.

I wish all BD cases were like this although they are standard size thickness.. I like the fact you don't have to scream out that it is a BD like the reg BD cases. So it is cool.

I like the fact that the paper insert is now protected and there is no top/bottom opening... The old ones were too flimsy they needed to be stronger and let the inner case slip out from the side not top/bottom. They would have worked out better.

I do love this new case though, for Criterion I think it works well since for Wages it is identical to the reg DVD release, just shorter. Very cool.

I hope they give us options to replace our old cases to be honest. I would pay a few bucks to get the case and insert. They'd look great all lined up on a shelf together. :-)

Sorry if this has been asked before, will the Benjamin Button release be in the new clear packing, or the cardboard packing?? I asked because all the pictures I've seen so far, looks like the cardboard packing.

I see only 6 Criterion Collection movies at blu-ray.com

Are all of the following still in the pipeline?

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/872/872316p1.html

* The Third Man
* Bottle Rocket
* Chungking Express
* The Man Who Fell to Earth
* The Last Emperor
* El Norte
* The 400 Blows
* Gimme Shelter
* The Complete Monterey Pop
* Contempt
* Walkabout
* For All Mankind
* The Wages of Fear

Will Criterion Collection in time eventually release all their previous DVDs on blu-ray?

I was wondering the same thing. I really hope it's the new plastic case.

The films above in green were in the original Criterion blu-ray announcement, but they have yet to be given a release date by Criterion.

I seriously doubt it. They never released all of their laserdisc releases on DVD.

Just go to Criterion's website if you wanna keep up with all of the official release announcements.

What Im wondering is why they decided to go with the same numbering for this collection? It was kind of dumb because this collection will NEVER be completed now. There is no way they are going to get the rights to some of these films that are long out of print. So if your in it for just the "collection" aspect might was to quit before you get too many...

I received five Criterion Blu-rays today:

The Last Metro
The Third Man
Bottle Rocket
El Norte
The Man Who Fell To Earth

Unfortunately they are all region-locked, so it would take some time to actually watch them on my European set-up.

If you need to sell them now, I can offer a fair price for El Norte and The Last Metro.
PM me if you're interested.
I'm in Ireland by the way, so shipping won't be very much.

Thanks for the offer but I will keep them at the moment. I did know before ordering them, that they are region-locked.

you mean the old one? I'd rather see the Hallmark one since it will have better production values. For the old one they have a placeholder at amazon for it.

I can't wait to get home to mine. It arrived about 10 minutes after I left for work today. Freaking UPS! Couldn't have been 15 min earlier so I could at least see the thing before I left home. oh well, couple more minutes...

I ended up canceling my order with Criterion for In the Realm of the Senses since they still hadn't shipped it. I ordered that and Empire of Passion (on DVD) from an online merchant that already has them in stock. It looks like Criterion is shipping the discs out to stores before filling the preorders for individuals.
