The single copies took at least 45 mins to an hour to sell out and the bundles were available for a few hours.

I was lucky and checking my phone right when it went up. I purchased a copy and then out of curiosity played with the quanities to see the maximum it would let me add to the cart for the single and a couple of the bundles.

The max for the singles it would let me add was somewhere around 400 at the start and if I was to guess I would say around 100 copies were involved in the bundles (the couple i tried only let me add 20-30).

So based on that I would bet they have sold out of at least half - though I don't know about 750.

The Dead Pit is not limited to 1000 copies. The slipcover edition is. Dark Force has stated as much over the last 2 months of hyping up the release. If you want the "Ultra limited, glow in the dark, never to be duplicated, so good you'll smack your mama" edition then you need to grab one of the first 1000 units. After these sell out a standard edition minus the glow in the dark slip (or possibly any slip) will be released.

750 seems believable based on your numbers, you were quick.on the scene, undoubtedly not the only one, purchased a copy and then played with the numbers, you saw 400 single copies, think about how many other people purchased, including scalpers , before you started playing with that number. The unlimited purchase limit makes 750 highly plausible.

I did the same as mattc out of curiosity. I hit 350 as the max about 5-10 mins in on single copies.

We can try and figure out a ballpark figure of how many copies may have been sold by posting our order numbers. Mine was 3159 - placed about thirty minutes after the site went up. It won’t account for multiple purchases, but I don’t see any scalpers slinging more than 5.

As others have stated, the slip was limited to 1000, but the disc will be pressed again. As to the reason, the slip ended up costing quite a bit more than they anticipated. There isn't enough profit involved to do unlimited slips or even a few thousand, at this point. Keep in mind, VS made a name for themselves, then got into slips, then started selling the limiteds with 1500 to 2000 slips before moving to a standard/slip-less edition. Counting on fans to purchase the slipped Dead Pit was a gamble. It just happens to have paid off... because so many of us are suckers for an nice slipcover. It could have easily gone the other way, with 200 selling in 10 days. What matters is that there is a market, so Bill gets paid and David gets paid which translates into more films being released. Overall, it was good.

I was pretty fast but not immediate and there were hundreds left in the single version when I checked, after placing my order. I believe they sold a lot more than anyone anticipated.

True, but they have to make a new deal with bill to release more. Bill said it repeatedly on a live stream.
