That isn't a bad analogy. Obviously Dark Force can be very analogous to pro wrestling although my job is to stay away from the theatrics.

Hey Tom, RE: the above info from the beginning of June and considering this newest experience with Dead Pit's quick demise sales-wise...

Will your Breeders release of the "Custom Collector's Slipcover that will rival the legendary old 3D VHS box" be limited to 1000 copies as well?
Please say it ain't so

This is one of my favorite movies, my DVD copy is probably worn out. I want this Blu release very badly. Please advise and thanks in advance.

So, Tom, what wee hour of the day do you plan to put more copies up for sale?
So that long time customers/collectors might have a chance to purchase a copy, will you limit sales to 1 copy per person for the remaining stock?
Are you familiar with another very small boutique label, which recently sold through 2 titles limited to 800, who had announced weeks in advance of the release the exact time and date that sales would begin?
As general manager, will future releases be limited to 1 copy per person so that long time collector/customers have the opportunity to purchase?

Dave may want to be a William Castle, but Castle never turned away his customers.

Hey all these Collector's Editions are gorgeous. As a matter of fact, the old 3D box is what inspired us to want to release BREEDERS on Blu-ray. That box was amazing but we are quite sure the new one will rival it. Again when you see these things in person it's a whole other ballgame. We have been in discussions to raise the runs to 1,500. We probably should have down with Dead Pit but it was still a pretty big risk. It turned out to be way more difficult than we anticipated to come up with what we feel is a really unique and incredible slip.

Best, Tom, General Manager, Dark Force

For me this new Dead Pit Blu Ray ist a big letdown. It's stripped off nearly all the extras from the previous Code Red DVD. Allegedly Bill holds all the rights so there is no reason for not including these extras....except for a planned 2nd edtion á la Savage Streets, Just before Dawn, etc. Let's milk them...

That can be a great way to gauge interest. For titles where there is a strong demand (like this one)you could've easily doubled the limited number from 1000 to 2000 and still possibly have a sellout in short time, ie (a few months). You also may save a little per unit on the pressing/replication process. I could be wrong but the bigger the order, the cheaper the per unit cost is to you. Could you imagine doing a 3000 print run, what's left at the end of the year have a sale. It'll definitely give your label more recognition and fans. Anyway's thanks for the reply, and congrats on a The Dead Pit sell out. I can't wait to get one eventually lol.
Many people have asked them to do pre-orders, but DF just ignores them, because they don't care about doing things like a normal label.

Pre-orders only work when customers are on the level, not running off and doing chargebacks after a couple of weeks. If dozens of customers did that to VS in quick succession, back when they started, they would have been banned from paypal, the main way customers pay for these cult titles, to say nothing of what happens with individual credit card companies, each of which has a different cutoff for red-flagging and even banning.

As to Dead Pit, they said something about not re-pressing. Just a few days ago they said they will be re-pressing a run of disc-only/non-slips. I'm wondering if they misstated that or if they have, indeed, decided it is to be 1000 discs with slips and no more.

Pre-orders have been satisfactory for customers and successful for labels such as: Vinegar Syndrome, Mondo Macabro, Arrow Video, Scream Factory, Criterion Collection, Blue Underground, Kino Lorber, Severin Films, Vestron Video, and others. If preorders don't work for a specific label for reasons, what is the outlying variable?

Carnies run the label, maybe?

I'm okay with Code Red and Dark Force running things the way they do. I actually enjoy the live streams and find the antics with Tom acting manager to be amusing and entertaining. But I hate the shills posting BS that is absolutely insulting to our intelligence. We know how things are being run, stop posting about alternate realities. Dark Force can run their business the way they see fit, we don't need people making up stuff to justify it.

I keep wondering if Tom isn't Dave, could he be a match for Bill's blood type?

Or is this just another Mailroom to General Manager American success story?

Just putting this into the universe:

If Dark Force did a discounted bundle of The Dead Pit with Freeway 2, I'd definitely be in for it. I'm also open to God's Bloody Acre or standalone Chaos. Of course, I'd have to know WHEN.

I was disappointed that Zombie Nightmare wasn't available. Dave had mentioned they found a bunch of copies recently. I wanted to pair it with Dead Pit to qualify for free shipping. As of now I haven't purchased yet
