Let me pose one more question. What would you do given these prices?

2X V5.1 @ ~$550
2x V.5.2C @ ~$650

Would the extra $100 be worth it going to the V5.2C and using it on its side? Would you think they would perform better than the V5.1 given the extra woofer?

Then again, this is a slippery slope because the V6.2 can be had for ~$900.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it would be worth spending the extra $100 to $350, given I'll be spending $550 minimum. I would love the V6.3 but at $1600 that is too pricey for now.

Overall, I do know that I want to stick with the Veritas line. When I first connected my V5.2c, it was almost obscene how much better it was than my old polk center for only $150 more. So clear, not harsh to me at all. The detail is for music and movies is simply incredible.
Given all these variables and given the fact the 6.2 are considerably below the actual MSRP I would just stretch the budget and go for the towers. yes the Veritas centers would be better than the 5.1.

even $1600 for the 6.3 is a crazy deal this is more than 50% off the retail. i would say get the 6.2 at $900, absolutely amazing bang for the buck if not the best of the lineup at the moment.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to get the V6.2 towers. Really I think that for only $300 more than the V5.2c's, I would kick myself for not doing it in the end.

Have you had experience with these towers? I actually really like the CF30s, but I've always been disappointed with the bass response. Should I expect the V6.2s to blow the CF30s out of the water?

In terms of aesthetics, I don't think I've seen a better looking speaker.

Thanks again for the replies

Joe

Also, how about the CF70 vs. V6.2?

No Comparaison for me if you want depth details and Dynamic Range the 6.2 will blow the CF-70 out of the water, if you stricly want power and intent to use the them mostly for HT the CF-70 woulf do great but for me I would pick the Veritas 6.2 hands down even if they are smaller.

You'll see how much power you can feed the Veritas with it's unbelivable. 6.2 hands down in my book.

This is a no contest you'll see how much better the 6.2 are over the CF-30, Just the older RC-50 blew the Cf-30 out of the water. I just can't see the CF-30 compete with the 6.2. The 6.2 are an evolution of the RC-50, they offer a better midrange and slighly more refinement in x-over parts I would assume, the vocals are superior as you probably noticed with the center alredy well it will translate in the towers too, I would pick the 6.2 hands down even over the CF-70, that's just me.

Thanks Al,

I'm going to order the speakers within the next couple of weeks. I'll post my impressions when I get them all set up. I think the CF30's will be sufficient for surround duty until I can get some better bipoles.

Now, I have a receiver question maybe you can help me with. I currently have the Marantz 1501 slimline, and it only pushes out 50w per channel. Do you think upgrading this is the next step for me? I'm assuming I can't really get the full benefits of the V6.2s without a more powerful receiver, no?

I would give it a try before upgrading the receiver, of course more power is always welcome but this cna truly be endless, i think the V6.2 are efficient enough, don't dig very low so they are receiver friendly speakers. The marantz should still be able to deliver good performance. I would say find out how it performs after a couple of months with the Marantz at least to get a good idea.

I would normaly encourage you to audition but since you alredy know the Veritas a little, i would say if you can find a dealer that would not mind do a demo for you with something more powerful, that would be a huge +

FYI, i do have experienc with the Energy Products, i use to own Energy speakers and I am a fellow Canuck so I know them well, I did here the RC, CF and Veritas ion many occasions. Construction and built quality of he Veritas is also far beyond the CF.

Great. I will definitely give it a few months with the Marantz before making a decision. Although it is not the most powerful, I LOVE my receiver. I think it sounds very natural compared to other receivers I've heard in the price range. For music it is very enjoyable.

I will add some pictures of my setup once I get the V6.2s. Thanks for all the help!

Joe

Ebay came through and the soundbar is being mailed back tomorrow, then I'll get my refund. So that's great, since Klipsh never got back to me since the first message. I'll probably try another soundbar brand like Sony and hope to have better luck with it working.

Glad that worked out and you got your refund. What about trying something like the self powered Audioengine A2?

I just purchased the Bluejeans speaker wire with the bananas welded on. They are very nice and never come loose. I was using Monoprice speaker cable with their banana plugs and they were always coming loose.

looking to upgrade my current crappy surround sound speakers,,and have my sights set on either the 5.0 take classic or the RC micro's. ( not decided yet)
Just wonder that the opinion was on the sub that comes with each.. is it worth getting the 5.1 set up ?.
My plan was to just get the 5 speakers and pick up a BIC F12.
