I didn't say Burton's absence made it better; the reason it works is because, like the '89 original, the dark and light elements are mostly balanced. "Returns" was too nihilistic, while "Batman & Robin" was too campy.

Things wrong with Forever -
The poor attempt at delving into the psyche of Batman
Completely butchering the Riddler
The terrible TV as a weapon plan
Not to mention Nolan showed us how great Two-Face can be after Schumacher showed us just how terrible he can be

I'm in honest shock. I truly am. Fox has to be aware that if they attempt another movie, the chances of them making the money needed to justify the production are remote. Additionally, feeding the FF into something like X-Men seems like something that franchise doesn't need either right now. While successful, a Hugh Jackman less X-Men is going to be a tough sell in the short term.

I'm thinking spite now. Fox is so desperate to keep FF away from Marvel, they will gladly burn the property to ashes then see someone else make money off it.

His stuff I imagine being the first half. Then.....someone decided to not include the second act. Still, not a total waste and I enjoyed it with the very low expectations I had.
There are still people who think that studios dive in and re-tool a movie (with expensive re shoots to boot) without cause?
The only reason for a studio to get heavily involved (beside the director and/ or top creatives quiting) are budget spiraling out of control (apparently not the case here), or obviously with test screenings being disastrous.

My guess is that Trank's version was incredibly dull, going nowhere, and they tried to salvage it with a time jump to bring in a third act mostly geared toward action.
Obviously, unlike something like WWZ it didn't work here, but it hardly means that Trank's version would have been overall better.

More like the opposite.

Some days I hate this board.

But every so often a day like today comes along and I realize how full of Batman Returns fans it is. What a day... what a lovely day.

last time I brought up Batman Returns and said it was the best Batman film ever I was surrounded by people who said the first one was better. Now all of the sudden Returns is unquestionably superior?

Fox is hoping to capture every dollar they can from this flop so of course they're going to say that for as long as it's in theatres, which won't be for too much longer I expect.

It would be quite jarring to see them try to marry the two different franchises into a movie.

I don't even think Bryan Singer himself could make a good crossover movie.

I doubt it. What Fox needs is a creative force to oversee and unify their Marvel properties much in the same way that Marvel has done. Otherwise we are going to get one ugly mess if they ever decide to mash everything up.

If anything, FF flopping so horribly and the X-Men at a crossroads should be enough to tell them not to do any team-ups. I wanted one before but there's too much uncertainty right now as far as the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are concerned.

Bob Kane disagreed; he described Val Kilmer as his favorite version of Bruce, with Keaton as his fave Batman.

I think it blended pretty well, the dedicated psychosis from the 1990s cartoon with the grandiose nature of the '60s series.

He didn't design it as a weapon, just a way to keep Gotham's citizens under control while he read their minds.

Nolan's version was truer to the comics, but Tommy Lee Jones' was so much more fun. My only beef is him flipping the coin multiple times, over whether to shoot Bruce at the manor.

The Fantastic Four is wildy different from X-Men and trying to shoehorn in the X-Men would just make things worse at this point.

It was a courtesy warning, so that those who wish to do so, could skip over my rambling thoughts and whatever spoilers are contained therein.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't they need Marvels permission to do any kind of crossover between the 2 franchises?

I'm not certain, but at any rate crossing the two is something should be avoided until they get someone to oversee both franchises and successfully find a consistent tone for their cinematic universe.

Either they need to give Singer the reigns or give them to the Donners.

They just said they intend to use the characters in the future. That sounds like a polite way to say start from scratch. The Xmen rumors are very old and were just tacked on as speculation by the author
