From everything I've read you are correct. Oklahoma St. literally played every player who suited up and barely even played the starters. If there's any blame for the score of this game it's the people who scheduled Savannah (a I-AA school that went 2-20 the past 2 seasons) and not the players.

Lousy opening game for the Sooners. Oklahoma is still just tied with UTEP 7-7 in the third quarter.

In that case, bad scheduling adn there was nothing okst could do. No problem with that. I am not a fan of how some teams like to run up the score. That is poor sportsmanship.

Dollar signs. These crappy little programs typically get paid a lot of money to schedule games against top D1 programs.

Not too surprising. My own Atlantic High School (Port Orange, FL) was pretty lousy in football, but we still produced a lot of D1 talent, as well as two future NFL players - Marlon McCree and William Bartee.

Total population is really irrelevant to the list I posted. They merely calculated the number of D1 players coming from each state as a ratio of players playing high school football in each state.

Oregon ran up a massive first half lead of 50-10. I think they're playing the reserves in the second half but they've still given up a ton of yards (over 530) to Arkansas St. Looks like they're going to win 57-34.

Purely money. Savannah State was supposed to play my local college Northern Iowa next week, but then Florida State came in and offered them $475,000 so they canceled the UNI game which was scheduled to pay them $150,000.

The coach was asked about this after the game. We all know that they got paid a lot and that against Florida State they will make a lot of money as well. It sounds like the coach did not expect the score to be as bad as it was.

"We're going to have to readdress that. You get paid for certain things, but I don't know if at the end of the day, some things are worth the payments you get. But we'll see. Those are conversations we'll have.

True. Talk this game definitly hit their self esteem. Next week could be worse. Florida is fast. Heck, they might be faster then okst.

This one was over almost as soon as it started. Oklahoma State scored on its first five possessions to take a 35-0 lead late in the first quarter, needing no more than 90 seconds on any of the scoring drives.

In a flash, the starters were replaced by backups and -- when the points kept piling up -- third, fourth and fifth-teamers were on the field.

Desmond Roland added 104 yards rushing and three TDs, and Jeremy Smith also ran for three scores as Oklahoma State broke the school record with nine rushing touchdowns -- two more than in a 54-0 victory against UTEP in 1977 but still three shy of the NCAA record.

Corey Bennett provided the final score on a 10-yard TD run with 1:20 remaining.

"We was just running the ball. It wasn't like we was trying to run up the score," Randle said. "I don't know what to say about it.

I guess in the end the okst coach got exactly what he wanted

That's sad that the kids have to get embarrassed for money like that. What do you tell the kids after a spankin like that? What there 84 points better then us and we had no business playing them. Oh by the way lets get pump up to play Florida State next week,with a top 5 defense.

I am a Florida ST fan, and I would admit Sammy is good. I wish he was suspended three games,so he would miss the game against us.

It's hard for a smaller school to turn down that kind of money. They don't have the luxury of lucrative TV contracts like the FBS schools.
