I just got the Energy VS surround speakers yesterday. I have them in dipole mode and they sound excellent! I see it has a gain dial on them. Out of the box they were all the way up,so I put them at 50%. Does anyone else own these and what are they supposed to be set at? The instructions said nothing about it.

i think halfway is right where you should be, your audyssey calibration will take care of the rest.

That's what I figured also. They sound really good in dipole,like the wrap around effect. They remind me of my old Mirage OMDR's.

well since mirage and energy were owned by api and many of the technologies that energy developed were used in mirage speakers and vice versa, as well, its not surprising at all that they sound/act similar. of course mirage was an experiment in omni-polar tech vs a traditional speaker like energy, and not that they sound the same, even tho some or many of the parts are the same/similar.

I know,even the drivers look the same. But the OMDR's didn't impress me at all. In fact,when I put my def tech SR8040's back up it was a noticeable improvement,go figure.. I'm diggin the dipole setup

might be tough, werent the veritas speakers discontinued? I hear on avs that they say theres a new line to come out.. we'll see if that happens.

Hi everyone, been a while since I posted on this thread & I am glad to see it alive & kicking, got a bit of a dumb question for the experts here!
As some of you might know I have the Energy Connoisseur or C8 floor standing speakers, purchased these many years ago & they are still going strong, dream speakers if you ask me!
Anyway as you can see in the picture the grey material has gone darker specially around the edges, I've never tried or bothered to clean it & I was wondering if anyone knew if it can be cleaned or not & if so what the best thing you guys recommend to clean it?

i think the speakers look great, espcially given their age. i always remember back to the time i had heard the C7s, man, such a nice speaker. John Tchilinguirian really designed some great speakers.

Hi Yautja, I donot know what you could actually use to clean this. One thingh I know for sure is that Sunfire sub designed by Bob Carver is one fine piece of equipment, speed, accuracy and pretty darn low end extension is fabulous in a pretty small enclosure. those subs rule.

They are. I actually own the 6.2 towers and center and absolutely love them. Got the towers for $299/each and the center for $199-249 (can't remember exactly) from Vanns last year. I really wanted to pick up some 5.1's and kick myself for not doing it.

I haven't heard about the new line coming out!

Searched the internet over for tose bookshelves without success, maybe you could use some RC-10 if you can find them.

i looked up at Sears even and could not find the 5.1

Just a heads up for anyone interested. Amazon has the Veritas 6.3 on sale for $499. That's a pretty good deal IMO and I picked up 2. My 6.1 speaker setup is complete: Veritas 6.3 X2, Veritas 5.2, C-300 X3 and ED a2-300

Thanks. Got them today and already playing music on them. Will calibrate tomorrow when wife is not here. They already sound fantastic!

Piano Black which matches my center and TV. Just finished calibrating with Audyssey and, initially, the system sounded worse than yesterday. Then I remembered I had to change the speakers to small and the crossovers back to 80. Now everything sounding good!

The finish is pretty out standing on them, Have you ever seen the Rosewood finish?

I looked amazing, those speakers do sound great indeed in pure direct for 2 channel playback.
