Well, at least September 12 isn't that long away now. I can barely contain my excitement for this set.

Technically shouldn't The Phantom Menace look better? as it was shot on 35mm film whereas the other 2 were limited to 1080p.

Will be interesting to see how it compares to the others on BD assuming it's had a brand new remaster.

Well technically.... No I think The Phantom Menace had a notoriously bad transfer compared to the other five films. It's an oddity compared to the others almost a bastard hybrid of film and digital. All grainy and shiny at the same time.

I still haven't had the nerve to watch any of the Star Wars films upscaled on my TV. I put in Raiders (another rumoured bad transfer) last year and couldn't get ten minutes through it.

In all the years I had the Star Wars films on DVD I don't think I watched a single film lol

I went to the 1-6 Marathon back in 2005 in London and since then I have only watched them once and they were 1080p HDTV rips which for the most part looked fantastic.

Can't wait to see how the official releases compare.

I don't know but here it is pieced together from several sources:

I'm hoping all the alternative scenes are included in the set (even Han and Greedo if it hasn't been restored).

Hope so too.

I've also heard that there is a rare deleted scene where you see R2-D2's inner circuitry under the dome head being worked on by Luke. I wonder if there is any truth to that.

Do you think we'll ever get extended editions of the films?

I'd love to see the scenes of Padmé's family restored in AOTC.

Agreed (as I have mentioned multiple times already I think ). Really do think that the Padme's Family scenes help the romance in the movie to work out a bit more realistic. Plus the simpleness of the scenes (no CGI) also has it's charm.

The acting was also great. Wasn't forced at all.

I think their relationship seemed too rushed in that film, seemed to happen for the sake of it, but these scenes give development.

That's why I found it a bad decision to remove the scenes only because they slowed the pace down (according to Lucas in the commentary on the deleted scenes).

Apart from the PT being complete and utter wank, the WHOLE thing was rushed.

I like the PT more when I think of it as Palpatine's story, how he managed to play the entire known galaxy, fool everyone, and take control of the universe. It puts a totally different spin on the OT when you look at it. The Jedi go from wise old sages to chickens who got fooled, owned, and their asses handed to them, then ran and hid, and didn't even help with the rebellion.

I always look at it like that anyway. Palpatine is my favourite character, I relish every moment he is on screen.

Ian McDiarmid is superb in the role.

The Dark Side was pretty oppressive and been dead really hindered their participation....

His performance is the only consistently good one in the PT, and his scenes in ROTS were some of the best scenes in the PT as well.
