Ahold I blind-buy this? Loved the first book and I have heard nothing but good reviews about this show. I would like to know mostly because that's a good price that Best Buy has there, especially for an HBO show.

For me, yes they have...numerous times. Although where I live and using Amazon Prime might have something to do with that.

If you like epic fantasy like: LotR, Conan, Dragonslayer...then mix in political intrigue, you'll probably like this.

From what I've read basically every edition has 1 special feature the others don't. Not really a big deal, but you can look it up if you're heavy into special features.

EDIT: To clarify, it's mostly retailer exclusives, so all BB versions should be the same.

(Get the Targaryen one. "Fire and Blood!")

I didn't act like a douche. Several forum members in this thread have asked if it is worth a blind buy. So I suggested using the thread search function.

xphoenix23: Some people say it's like the Sopranos in a Fantasy setting, some say it's like Lord of the Rings with an R-rating.

There is gore, sex, politics, treachery, back-stabbing, and yes, there are wolves and mentions of dragons. It is an "epic" show in every sense of the word. I highly recommend it.

Feel free to read the Amazon.com summary or watch trailers on YouTube! to get a sense of what it's about. But a blind buy would be worth your money and time.

read the review
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Game-.../25599/#Review

or better yet go into it blind like many of us did and enjoy it even more without being hand fed parts of the plot

it was the best show on tv last year and if it was a movie it would have been the best movie in theaters last year

People always ask what is Game of Thrones like. The truth is it isnt like anything, which is why it's so good. It's fantasy done right but there's also a realism to it that's makes u easily feel it's a historical piece. It's like LotR trilogy told over 30 hours instead of 10. It's like what u visualize in ur mind when u read a book. It's like BSG in that it's an epic story told thru realistic characters. There's even a touch of Ice and Fire tossed in.

Most of Warner's releases (especially the ones in the US) are region-free. I'd say 99%, but I'd say you confirm that before ordering

EDIT

actually it's been confirmed from Planet Axel that it's region free
