I seriously doubt it, but are the BDs themselves themed as well as the old DVDs? The film reel look fits this movie perfectly.

Awesome news about the HD Roger shorts! Can't wait to see this movie shine in HD.
I never seen the discs before, those looks sweet! I wish they could have used those discs for the blu-ray

This is simply not true. It looks nothing like the HDTV source. I've gone through many comparisons. There is a complete lack of film artefacts for one. The old master is riddled with them.

I've decided to hold off on this just like I did with Dick Tracy. Way too expensive for what you get...nothing new. Great, the pq & aq are better (as they should be on a new format), but that shouldn't necessitate such a high price. Maybe when it drops to $15 I'll get it ($8 for Tracy).

Which is exactly why studios often decide to go with old transfers for catalog releases nowadays - They know this mindset is out there, won't make a ton of money on the release, and thus will release a 'less than' product.

I don't know what any of this means. Pardon my ignorance but can someone put this into plain English for me.

Is it weird that there is no Spanish or Portugese audio but they have subtitles? Spanish is almost always common

I see DVD/BD comparison screenshots have just appeared at caps-a-holic.com:

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...n.php?cID=1571

Very disappointing to see the blu-ray seems to have been hit with the teal and orange crap.

So people with that mindset are screwing over the rest of the potential buyers. Great.

Really? I feel like the DVD leans a lot closer to teal. Compared to the Blu-ray, it look a bit more "greener" and based on every Remastered thread I've gone through, "purists" would much prefer a film looking pink than green.

My only issue is that the BD looks a little dim and a teensy bit too warm. But the grain is intact and the detail is extraordinary. The contrast and color saturation is much better than the previous DVDs, looks far more natural. I'm quite excited for this.

Why is that crap? Is there some reason to believe the DVD color is accurate to the film and how it's supposed to look?

No, it hasn't.

Looks pretty good to me, for what it is. That's not the old HDTV master.

Yeah The Terminator's Remastered BD came out recently, and while it was just $13 on Amazon, people were still holding off until it was under $8.

I can understand why they wouldn't spend the money on new features or fancier packaging and why, despite the fact that they've had this 4K remaster for years, they've held off releasing it this whole time while reissuing the 2006 in new packaging for bargain bin prices. And I can see why MGM wouldn't spend the money to remaster the rest of the 007 films(like Goldeneye) since a lot of people wouldn't buy their excellently remastered Bond's until they were under $10 or bundled together for $50. It's not worth the effort, and it seems like the only times a really great film gets what it deserves is when it truly is seen as a masterpiece by the studio.

I don't know anything about the master used on HFRR but based on the screenshots, I think it looks great. If it's an old master, Disney was using a damned good source.

Exactly.

Compare the screenshots #02, #03 , and #10.
The Blu-ray has much more natural colors.

The contrast is overblown in #02, and there's a light green tint. The text on the Herman Sherman's poster is much closer to white on the Blu-ray. The skintones are yellowish and the walls look much more like beige on the BD, while the walls seem to border on seafoam in the DVD.

In #03 it is way oversaturated and everything looks too yellow. The red car looks more like an orangish brown, the shy is tinted yellow, and it makes the scene look like it's taking place at a completely different hour of day.

And in #10, the foam looks pretty unnatural on the DVD. The foam wouldn't look that dark and that intensely yellow in real-life.

This is why I hate when people compare Blu-ray's to DVDs, as if DVDs would be the definitive source of reference for a Blu-ray.

For the record, I'm not claiming the DVD is reference source for how the blu-ray should look. The DVD clearly has issues of it's own.

Oh Boy!
I can't wait to get my hands on this Blu ray this month!

I just wish Disney would have spent some time and money on a New Blu Ray cover box image. The image is the same one from the 2 disc dvd Only that they shrunk the artwork and surrounded it with Red borders.

Well maybe The Blu ray discs will have art on them. I hope it's not the same type of discs with the Blue background that has the title of the film printed in white letters that Disney has been releasing recently to save money
