I saw 7 opening night in the theater and I remember the crowd being incredibly responsive, especially during the final showdown. And who could forget Star Mummy!

Brad Fuller

Quote:
There was a lot of found-footage scripts that they wanted us to make and I was not going to do that because I don’t think that can exist in Jason Voorhees’ world.
In regards to the script by Aaron Guzikowski

Quote:
Aaron’s story has great characters…You kind of have to understand Jason Voorhees, so we go back and we kind of started over and work our way forward. [It’s] origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before.

Do we really need a Jason origin story

Can't it just be him killing people and that's it

I actually think bringing in his father could work, as long as it doesn't go down the Rob Zombie Halloween route (which i'm sure it won't).

Really looking forward to this. I always like when a reboot does something new instead of just rehashing the original plot again.

Exactly. Trying to make a slasher more than what it truly is resulted in the trainwreck that is Rob Zombie's Holloween. Here we go again...

I don't think a guy just going around and killing people will work for this franchise. At least enough to encourage interest from the amount of people they need.

If they do start over, I want something fresh. I want a different perspective. That said, I do not want the trash Zombie brought in for Halloween. I want likeable characters with a lead heroine or hell even a lead male that you root for at the same time enjoying watching Jason mow down everyone else.
In fact, a lead male could be something that works now for horror films. It is always a female. So why not some likeable guy like Anton Yelchin or Dylan O'Brian or someone with that persona? Now that I would like. And yeah...I know they had Jared Padalecki as the lead last time, but he shared it with two women last film for the most part.

I'm looking forward to this. Even though I'd rather just see the Jason story continue as normal, I'm quite open to the idea of a reboot done properly this time, and hearing that they will actually use Pamela Voorhees as a key character in the film, it sounds like they're (hopefully) going to do it right this time.

I'm not really sold on incorporating an origin story for Jason into the new film. I just want to see a hulking non-zombie Jason hacking and slashing teens in the woods, with some likeable characters, a resourceful and feisty "final girl", with a suspensful third act, lots of atmosphere (rain, fog, thunder, lightning, wind), outrageous Tom Savini-like kills and a Harry Manfredin score. Keep it simple, on point like the classic Paramount entries of the 80's. Don't over think it and get bogged down in needless backstory.

Origin stories always work in well-known horror franchises! I mean, look at Exorcist: The Beginning, Jason Goes to Hell, Halloween (2007), Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Psycho IV: The Beginning, etc. Granted I enjoy some of those films, but none of them are good by any stretch. Platinum Dunes just has no clue what they're doing.

Out of all of those, it's easily the best of the batch. My only grievance is it is more of a retread of TCM (2003). I still like it though!

It's Jason Voorhes' new catchphrase. Every time he stabs someone with his machete, he's going to say "Got Em!!!"

In a recent interview for the newly released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form spoke about the upcoming reboot of Friday the 13th and dropped a BOMB that is going to bring some new blood into the series!

Quote:
“We’re going to go back and we’re going to meet that family,” Fuller told Yahoo, speaking of the Voorhees clan. Form confirmed, adding, “We’re going to meet the family. You’re gonna meet Pamela, Elias, and Jason. And you’re gonna see how it all happened.”

Thanks to bloody-disgusting for the scoop.

It's some stupid outdated meme from last year or earlier this year that isn't funny anymore.

On topic, I'm really interested in meeting Elias Voorhees. Count me in as one of those who would prefer a sequel but I'm just glad we're getting another movie.
