There are posts that were deleted that addressed the fact. Regardless, HD Goofnut's objection to something being marked up for retail is flawed, especially on a forum that celebrates something as inexpensive as optical media discs.

I never collected any Hot Toys figures because the prices are too high and I'm not into the 12" scale anyway but that Wasteland Ranger figure by that other company looks great.

If NECA could somehow get the rights for a 7" line of all four Mad Max movies and the game I'd love to buy some.

This might sound a bit corny, but Hot Toys are 'art'. You're not paying just for the materials used to make the figure, but the work that went into it. They have to hire extremely talented sculptors, plus these things still go through a expensive process to produce.

You're never going to find a $5 toy that matches anything that comes out of Hot Toys. If you want cheap, stick to your shitty looking Hasbro toys. At least Hot Toys actually look like the actor playing the character.

It's like saying a Criterion disc should cost the same as a Echo Bridge disc because the materials used costed the same. No one is going to license, remaster, and produce extras for free- and actual effort costs more.

They're dolls. Expensive dolls, but dolls nonetheless. Deal with it.

And before that triggers anyone's insecurities about owning dolls, I owns dolls too. I dealt with it a long time ago.

Now hug that shit out and move on, ffs.

That was some pointless joke someone made, the point was over some idiotic comment that a person must be stupid to spend money on sculpted plastic.

Very disappointed. It's the full audio from the original, music, sfx, dialogue. Just in B&W.

The best version I ever saw of The Road Warrior, was when the composer, Brian May, was on the soundstage, conducting the orchestra. In those days, in the recording studio, used what they called a ‘black and white dupe,’ a ‘slash dupe,’ which is a very, very crude, cheap version of the color print. And I remember walking in there for the first time and seeing the first black-and-white ‘slash dupe’ of The Road Warrior. And I thought, ‘Oh my God! That’s how the movie should have been.
So, what's the point of sayin' this?^^

Making a joke about an action figure looking like someone else is about as original as making a "not" joke in the collecting community but I'll give you a break since this is a forum for another (equally nerdy) fandom.

In any case, you can't find a much better validation of a sculpt than this, courtesy of a poster on the sideshowfreaks board:

And those are pics of the actual production piece, not a prototype.

My joke was not that the sculpt was bad, but about the company using the resemblance of Hardy and Marshall-Green as a "Wasteland Ranger"-style legal workaround (especially bearded, in The Invitation -- I hadn't looked up the credits when I saw the film and I knew that it wasn't Hardy but it distracted me the entire time).

I kinda got that actually after I googled the guy and saw him listed as a Hardy lookalike in more than one first-page results haha. Figured I'd still leave my post up though.

The figure is out in the wild though it may be a while before it hits the US en masse. I have mine coming from a domestic seller.

The way they fixed the night scenes is awesome.

Wait... so it ISN'T silent? That is supremely disappointing. I thought that was half the reason for this version!

Not sure, but I think they wanted to keep the silent version for later, according to a recent radio itw from one of the producers.
Basically confirming a UHD collection? I will totally wait for a UHD b&w silent version.

This is suppose to be "High Octane", but doesn't include the announced UHD copy of the original Mad Max....

Uh, you do know MGM doesn't have a UHD disc planned for the US or Canada, right.

It was only annouced in Europe where Warner has the full rights to it.

I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed, but can't you just use the monochrome setting on your tv to watch the regular Blu-ray in B&W?

Is there something I'm missing here? Please be kind, I haven't researched the entire thread or anything.
