MGM only list Penitentiary & Penitentiary II on their website, with III curiously absent. Xenon's website also only lists Penitentiary & Penitentiary II. Penitentiary III is absent. Quote:

I do know for certain that MGM/UA strangely enough, does hold some rights to the 1st Penitentiary and it's sequel. How that could've came to be was United Artists probably had international rights to P1 during initial release and may have done a short run re-release in the US and in a double bill with the sequel (which UA did pick up for distribution in the US to cash in on Mr. T's appearance for Rocky III). |

It's possible MGM has TV rights to those two. Sometimes when a title is on a site, it probably means they own certain rights to that. For example they own physical home video rights to The Producers and a number of StudioCanal titles and TV rights to the 1980 Flash Gordon Movie and Bubba Ho-Tep (the latter probably the last remaining rights of the film they own).

Pentitentiary 3 was a Cannon Films production and it was listed on MGM's 2014 Copyright security agreement (Penitentiary and Penitentiary 2 show up on that same filing for reasons that are unclear to me, it's possible they do have some sort of broadcast rights to them).

Same here, but VS said it wouldn't be getting a release from them when they were releasing Jamaa Fanaka's other films. If Penitentiary III is indeed owned by MGM or some other large studio, maybe MVD could look into what exactly the rights situation is regarding the film and find out if a release is possible.

This is a perfect time to release Eight Days a Week. Keri Russell has a role in the upcoming Star Wars IX movie and her media presence will never be greater near its release.

What's the word on the Lionheart replacement disc? Is this something they are still working on?

So here's one for the late night cable TV crowd from like 1995:
Due to the revived interest in the Karate Kid series via the excellent Cobra Kai, any plans to visit some of the B-action and made for video movies that were released in the '90s featuring some of that series' stars? Films like the two Shootfighters with William Zabka and Martin Kove or some of those Thomas Ian Griffith actioners like Crackerjack co-starring Nastassja Kinski and Christopher Plummer or Excessive Force with Lance Henriksen, James Earl Jones, Tony Todd and Burt Young in supporting roles? Just curious...these seem like they'd totally be up MVD's alley. |

I'm always down for more Blu-rays with Lance Henriksen.

Can MVD release the campy cult film Maryjane 1968 to blu-ray? It has never been released on any format, it only once appeared on MGMs TV channel and briefly on Netflix streaming with a bunch of other MGM titles.
