Can you imagine the carnage if this movie took place in a city shortly after the arrival of the monsters? It would basically just be 2 hours of people being torn to shreds.

So, just like quite a few horror films that already exist?

Yeah you could have some real cathartic fun. Say a bunch of millennials at a college campus, and unable to shut the xxxx up, mute their phones, and stop whining... :P

Most American horror films, which are largely bad.

There's no way for me to know what movies you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure that there's no movie in existence that is anything like what I'm picturing in my mind when I think of A Quiet Place Goes to the City.

I could see a prequel showing how it started. That would be interesting but the tone would obviously be completely different.

The only way to kill these monsters is to let them chomp on/kill the girls from Sex in the City.

You'll have to do better than that. Please name some examples.

That's exactly where my mind went when watching the movie. The very first thing I would have done was gone to the nearest recording studio.

I'd rather take my chances with the monsters than risk being stuck in a soundproof room with Kanye West or Beck.

This movie does not need any sequels or prequels. That would ruin what is otherwise a perfect, standalone, single 90-minute movie experience.

The world is built through ambiance and subtlety.
[Show spoiler]In fact, the one thing that took me out of the film a tiny bit, my only gripe was the sharpie notes on the wall in Krasinski's command station.
Show, don't tell. Some things are better left unsaid. And some films don't need sequels, so-much-so that it takes a bit away from the original experience.

Yeah, those sharpie notes felt a little sloppy to me, too. A minor issue, but still one of the few moments where I felt there was a crack in the facade of an otherwise well built and realized movie world.

I know exactly what you mean but I just go with things like that as they're an easy shortcut to establishing certain facets of the story, especially in a movie like this where you're learning on the job about the characters and the situation at hand and it can't easily be verbalised. I don't need my hand to be held but a lil' squirt of exposition never hurt anybody. If you look in the bonus features when they're prepping the movie there's actually different stuff on the whiteboard, I guess they dumbed it down a bit more for the move proper.

As for a sequel, the movie doesn't need one (what movie does? Said William Goldman, unimpressed) but they can certainly take it in other directions.
[Show spoiler]Krasinksi won't be in it in a starring role, natch, but I reckon the dad will have left behind a video message or something for them to watch when he's gone

It's definitely a nitpick, especially since they otherwise do a great job of just letting the story, characters, and overall scenario unfold in a very natural way. But I just did a little bit of when I saw the big "WEAKNESS???" written on the board. Of all the things to break my suspension of disbelief...
