If it's not out on the 10th, which is actually closer to both of the previous 4K release dates for both seasons, it's either dropped or they're waiting for season 4. If so, hopefully it'll be the latter.

Funny thing is I thought season 1 and 2 were better. Season 3 is good too but feels less like Stranger Things than 1 and 2 tbh.

This is the only way I've seen the show.
I don't have internet at home, aside from my 6.2 inch phone screen, and I'll be damned if I ever watch anything on this size of a screen!

Another reason to hate streaming and digital "purchases...
Amazon in a lawsuit about digital purchases saying that they only sell the license to be able to watch something and if it gets pulled, they don't care.

Netflix raising prices again soon.

I kind of agree. It’s really the fact that it’s lighter and more playful. It was probably justified after two dark and distressing seasons, but I come to STRANGER THINGS to be chilled and unnerved, so it was my least favorite season (though I still loved it overall). I have a feeling that people who think ST3 is the best season probably consider GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY to be among the best of the Marvel movies when they’re personally my least favorite of that saga.

Haha. You might be on to something as the Guardians of the Galaxy are my favorite Marvel films along with the Avengers.

Still, I really hope we get news on a physical release of Season 3 soon. If not, I hope it comes out before Season 4 and is not dropped altogether.

It's really hard to follow-up with anything great when a show's first season is damn near flawless. I think that Stranger Things and Mr. Robot both suffered under the weight of their first seasons' perfection.

I agree that S3's tone feels a bit lighter than the first two seasons but that's not why I prefer it to S2. S2 just seems a bit undercooked to me. Separating Eleven from the gang for most of the season was a misstep IMO, especially since her arc
[Show spoiler]ends up taking her right back to them anyway.
And while I actually don't mind the apparently unpopular episode where she's
[Show spoiler]in the city,
it's placement in the season is brutal as it gets in the way of the momentum that had finally ramped up in Hawkins. I do like all the new characters but only Max feels really fleshed out by the end of the season. Billy's arc especially disappointed me but
[Show spoiler]at least he became more interesting in S3.

Can't really comment on the Guardians movies as I'm not much of a Marvel fan and thus haven't seen them. I can say that I don't care for the humor and general tone in the Disney SW movies; I've heard that they share a similar approach to several Marvel films.

Yeah, S2 was bound to disappoint as I really do consider S1 to be a perfect season of television. And the fact that S3 took a slightly different approach and played around with a few of the characters might not have worked so well as a direct follow up to the first season. But I do think S1 and S3 share a compelling pulpy narrative and balanced use of its entire cast (including the new members in S3), both of which I feel were lacking a bit in S2.

Neither of those really have any relevance to them being Target exclusives.

It could have been a mass release with the same packaging and lack of advertisting the release.

I don't really have a problem with it being a Target exclusive (even though I don't care for the packaging and also transfer all the discs elsewhere). Why? Because they released as many as the market demanded and they have dropped their pants on the price numerious times. Those that actually wanted the UHD could get it in the first couple months...even below retail.

Yes, it became more difficult to get but the BluRay was well stocked and could be picked up for $10 many times. How many other retailers would do that?

I think I got season 1 for $5, the UHD for $10, and Season 2 UHD for 20 and could have gotten the bluray Season 2 set for $10 but chose not to after getting the UHD as it came with the Blurays as well.

If Target was price gouging these things different story, but realisitcally getting the thing in HD for $10 or less a season means they are being fair to the market.

Sure, but they want to make a profit, and having to move stock at almost lost liter levels is not what they wanted, of course. Much of it was probably because... no one knew it had been released in the first place! Wholly Target and Netflix's fault.

Then, they finally wised up with the 4k release of the 2nd Season and at least that was printed in smaller batches (and now OOP). If we get a Season 3, I'm sure there will a lot less inventory than before. Demand would then dictate that they would not slash the prices like last time.

I've made the argument for a long time now that new releases shouldn't be expensive due to the fact they are easily downloaded/streamed. I think $10 is fair for any new release and that includes the UHD version. Many people have Netflix or have had it and so most people will have seen the first season. I think asking people to pay for something they have already seen is a bit risky in todays climate. For most people, once you've seen something and you know who lives and dies at the end, that's it, you don't need to see it again. It's really the die hard fans and collectors that want this on physical media and if I lived in the US and seen the first season at $5 I would have picked it up, I'm sure many did just as novelty Christmas presents, it looks like a VHS tape and has a scary looking girl on the front, it's a novelty.

I'm looking at the titles on this page. Game of Thrones for $194. It'll be $100 in 6 months. $22.99 for 2012. $24.99 for Cinema Paradiso. This is stuff that anyone who wants to see them has already seen, the prices will plummet and my argument is.....why aren't they those prices to begin with? These are films and franchises that have paid for themselves ten times over. The money has been made, the physical media versions at this stage should just be considered additional income. There's no need to try and take every penny they can out of people and many people rightly are smartening up to it. They know when to leave things, they know when things will hit $10, they know when a BOGOF offer is approaching and you're seeing more and more collectors just wait it out because everything drops in price eventually.

I still think there's a chance since Season 4 has been delayed. If it doesn't come out before Season 4, I think we'll have to wait until the series has wrapped.

I do think there will eventually be a box set but like a lot of TV series, those that own the first couple of seasons will get screwed.

The first two seasons were often in the top 10 best sellers for several weeks and since Netflix 100% owns Stranger Thing they get all that home media money. I think we'll get Season 3 eventually, but we'll have to wait until Season 4 is actually on the horizon.

Duplicators are on backlog, so if they do release a set, it will be closer to Season 4.

Is target still selling the 4k versions cheap? I'm new to 4K Collecting. I'm guessing they probably aren't at stores anymore. I hate to resort to Evil-Bay
