It's okay to rationalize to justify saving money. Happens to me all the time when it's appropriate.

That's the impression I got after seeing the screen cap comparison thanks for your honest opinion.

They got away with it because 10 Commandments is mostly locked off with very little camera movement, etc.

Try that with something like Ben Hur and it would be a macroblock fest.

I was just thinking about this a bit ago. Ben Hur would probably be 2 discs. So would Gettysburg and Gods & Generals for that matter.

Ben-Hur is 2.76 so there's quite a bit of letterboxing (black bar) in the image though.

Maybe it would fit on a 100 GB disc, but I'm always wary of compression.

But with 1.33:1 classic television aspect ratio, BD-100 blu-ray discs should accommodate four 52 minute Star Trek TOS episodes in 4K and still look well.

That sounds about right assuming Paramount doesn't try to squeeze any extras onto those discs.

For those of you that cancelled your pre-orders from Amazon and then re-ordered, that was not necessary. I pre-ordered mine back in Jan. and they gave me an arrival date of the entire month of April. Then today that was changed. It is on the Amazon truck and has a new arrival date of today.

I skimmed through a few scenes today (I'm saving the full film for easter). I can't comment on how much of an improvement it is on the Blu-Ray because I've only ever watched the film on DVD, but what I saw looked excellent.

Got mine today from Amazon. Can't really tell how much better it looks compared to the Bluray. It looks Great that's for sure. But so did the original Bluray.

Not sure f I will buy it on disk......but will be seeing it on the big screen at a local theater tomorrow (March 31). It’s part of the Cinemark classic series.

I just contacted Amazon and told them how frustrated I am with that because others have gotten their copy. I am particularly annoyed because there was a book I ordered two months prior to its release...and months after the release date I still never got it. It even went out of print and when I contacted Amazon, they helped me by paying for the higher cost of getting it from eBay (a $60 difference).

After going through multiple back and forth with their customer service this morning, their person said they would contact the shipping department and put through a request to have it advanced to shipping delivery. But then he said it should go out with two-day status. I said I have Amazon Prime and if I ordered it today, I would get it tomorrow. And that's what I did, told them to cancel the original order and I would place a new order.

They gave me $5 credit for my trouble but I tell you I am fed up with Amazon pre-orders. It used to mean you would get it on the release day. Now it means your order goes into some limbo area.

Well...I just got an email that the package is on the way, but instead of the cancelling the first order like they said they would, they have sent it in the same package, so they are sending me two copies (the original order and the new one)...and they have charged me twice. I called them and they said to contact them again tomorrow and request a return label tomorrow and then return the extra.
