I have a few questions I’d like to pose to all forum members – any feedback you can offer would be helpful.
![]() 1. For those of you who have joined CHCanada.com do you receive emails from us? 2. Do you find these emails informative/useful? 3. Is the frequency too much or too little? 4. What would you like/prefer to see in these emails? 5. Would you make a purchase decision based on these emails or based on discussions from the forum? 6. Is brand awareness building for the new name CHCanada.com? 7. Would we benefit more from the name Columbia House or would it cause more confusion with the existing club? |

1. I have only received one since March. The one was on Aug. 24. 2. Yes but it would be nice if they listed the newly added titles since the last email and also the current 13.99 titles. 3. Likely too little in my case. Every week or couple of weeks would be good IMO. 4. Like above - the new Blu-ray titles which are available since the last email plus the list of the current 13.99 titles. 5. Yes if it had the above info. 6. Yes. 7. No - it would just add more confusion. |

1. Yes. 2. Not particularly. With respect to the Blu-ray section, I find it misleading, as regularly-priced titles are shown next to the "$13.99 Blu-ray" heading. I am only marginally interested in the Music section and I'm not a gamer (anymore ![]() 3. Once a month would be OK for the big issue, but you could do short weekly issues that highlight that week's deals. EDIT: I always receive these AFTER the website has been updated; I would prefer to know BEFORE. By the time I read the newsletter, I've usually already checked the website. 4. Weekly sale items ($13.99) and new/upcoming pre-orders. 5. No and No. Purchases are based soley on price and desire to own. Unless, of course, someone finds a hidden gem and brings it to the forum's attention! 6. A little. 7. That would cause more confusion than already exists, unless you were to call it "Columbia House Web Store" or something like that (as opposed to "Columbia House Club"). (Damn! You're quick, Jimbo! ![]() Last edited by HDmark; 09-09-2009 at 04:51 PM. Reason: Additional comment |

2. Not particularly. I'd prefer if there was a separate Blu-ray and standard DVD version. I have no interest in purchasing DVD's any more, unless no Blu-ray option is available and it's something I really want. (like TV show sets) 3. Frequency is good. I get an email about once a week which is just about right. 4. As mentioned, I'd like separate standard & Blu-ray versions. Most important to me is the change in the $13.99 titles for the week. A listing of this week's sale titles would be great as would notice of upcoming promotions, like the recent free shipping promo. 5. I generally keep on top of what's coming out and when so the newsletter alone would not cause me to purchase something, except in the case of promtions. I've learned of several promtions through this forum and that indeed has caused me to make purchases. 6. Hard to say. I certainly let all my friends who have Blu-ray players know about it (most had not heard of it before). 7. I think it would be a bad move to use the Columbia House moniker. If I had seen that initially, I might have dismissed the club without bothering to read the detail. I think most people see Columbia House and think of having to reply to all those cards and commit to purchasing "X" discs etc, even if much has changed since the early days. |

I receive shipping confirmations some of the time but don't care because I know I will receive them anyway. I have received one promotional email, and it was a couple of weeks ago. 2. I am assuming you mean the promotional email. I didn't find it useful at all because I check the deals weekly when they are announced. I too am only interested in blu-rays, so a separate section would be good. 3. Too little. 4. Separate blu-ray section. Weekly $13.99 sales mentioned. Extensive details about the movies in the sale as this might persuade me to blind buy or investigate further - including actors, synopsis, director, genre, length, technical details. Coupon codes and promotions (either mention of existing upcoming promo, or exclusive for email readers). Upcoming titles with release dates. 5. If I knew the movie by the title, I would buy instantly. If the title was unknown to me, I might investigate further if it looked interesting. I value the opinions in the forum and might seek those out for some titles. 6. Hard to say. Awareness is high in the forums. I doubt any of my other friends would have heard of CH Canada, and would think it was the same as Columbia House. 7. No point in changing the name. The CH Canada name presumably exists to reposition the product in people's minds. You target people on a different basis with distinct offers. Why merge it now? It would cease to exist in some people's minds. Last edited by Steve46; 09-09-2009 at 04:59 PM. |

2,No, not at all. Most of the time I had to go to the site and look for BD deals myself 3, doesn't matter to Mr. delete buttom at all. 4, More detail Blu ray deals/infos 5, discussions and personal choice mostly, but if you mention in your email, say Shawshank is now on for 13.99, the same as Coraline!, I would just whip out my credit card already. 6, I can tell between CHcanada and Columbiahouse.ca, does it matter beyond that? 6, more confusion. |

1. Promotional emails only...never had a "shipping" confirmation at all.
2. Nothing new since I do check in here fairly often. 3. Weekly is fine with me. 4. What Blu's are actually on sale at the moment. 5. Both or either. 6. Seems to be. 7. I think it would cause more confusion. Quote:

2. Since I don't get the e-mails, let me tell you what I would find informative: I would definitely like order and shipping confirmations. A promo e-mail every time the $13.99 titles get updated would definitely be awesome as well. 3. Since I don't tend to get the promo e-mails I don't know. But for me once a week would be fine, provided it actually told me which new titles have been added, and especially which new $13.99 titles have been added. 4. As I mentioned in previous answers, I'd like to see which new titles have been added, and at what price. 5. Definitely, since they would tell me what's available. 6. Hard to say. I've told several people about chcanada.com, so in that sense yes. But I've never been told about chcanada.com or seen it in a forum outside of this one. 7. Definitely don't change the name, that would be confusing. It's already kinda confusing to tell you the truth. A better name would probably have been NAME OF CLUB by Columbia House Canada, kinda like THE SOURCE by Circuit City. The whole "Welcome to the NEW Columbia House" makes it seem like it's just a new version of the old Columbia House, which at first made me think it was a marketing gimmick - like maybe you now have a few new member rules, like a decreased committment or something. 2. I don't find the general advertisements informative or useful personally 3. Frequency is perfect. Usually every other week for the ads I think 4. Would prefer specific information on sales and/or newly added pre-orders. Newly added preorder information would probably require an account option to specify what formats I'm interested in though (Blu, DVD, CD, Game) 5. All purchases so far have been based on forum/regular site browsing. Emails would require either more specific information or specific sales links to impact my immediate buying. 6. I think brand awareness is building. I'm certainly spreading the word that I think CHCanada is the best place to buy Blu-rays from. 7. I think the 'Columbia House' name is too associated with long multi-year subscriptions and purchase requirements to benefit CHCanada Hope the input helps |
