Aww you guys, I gave it 5 for the whole fiasco, like the guy eating popcorn with shades on while he watches the burning ship sink

Not because it was a good film

Oh yeah, this entire fiasco behind the making of this film definitely gets 5 stars just for the entertainment factor.

From the sound of it, it at least has an ending and that's probably the only victory that could ever be salvaged from the mess Trank made.

I'm not at all buying Fox's "it didn't have an ending" story. More likely it didn't have an ending with enough action and CGI to make the execs happy.

I have a feeling that Trank's version was a lot more subdued and cerebral than the final product, judging by the reviews.

I not buying anything from Fox frankly. If they thought Trank was as bad as they are letting on they would've replaced him OR they'd have been watching him like a hawk throughout the entire process.

At the end of the day it is the studios fault how a film turns out not the directors, especially one who has only made one film before.

I just don't buy any of it.

Nice try though

Yeah, I still don't get why Fox didn't replace Trank with another director, like Marvel did with Ant-Man. They could've still changed direction (especially early on) and salvaged the movie had they done that.

That would cost more money and they only made this to keep the rights.

It sounds to me like it was a disaster from the start and because he blabbed they are going to ruin him

That's what Fox is saying for right now, it's damage control.

Not really. You don't want to call your series dead while it's still in theaters. They have to play like they're still moving forward.

It's possible they already have a plan for the second movie that they feel confident in.

Just because this movie didn't perform well is no guarentee that the next will either.

If they're presented with the option of rebooting again in 7 years or trying to turn out a salvageable sequel I think the sequel is the better business decision.

They have a good cast to to work with. If they can get a better writer and a better director in to work on the sequel I see no reason why it can't be successful. The biggest benefit of a sequel is now they have the origin out of the way, which gives them a HUGE range of creative possibilities.

Isn't this what happened with Green Lantern? They were going ahead with a sequel that never materialized. Still stupid though. Especially with F4 making Green Lantern look like a box office phenomenon.

This post is just complete ignorance.
Nobody wants a sequel to this.

Did you read the article? They were pressed for time and couldn't find another person to take over the project. Both Fox and Trank are to be blamed, Trank because of his bizarre and destructive behavior on and off set.

Agreed! This franchise is so toxic right now that a sequel would fail without question.
