Oh yeah I know, it's wild, I wonder why that is

I'm not really dying to get it as I've got the Ultimate Edition coming, but if the collectors edition stays in sock long enough here, I might be tempted to get it during a sale or something; JB has them pretty frequently.

Ah, that is unfortunate. Was there an official "hey here's the set but screwed up on getting the master for this" statement?

Looks extremely nice (and better finish than the other set). Some more notes:
- The set is limited to 8,000 copies.
- Small objects are held in place by foam
- The discs are held in digistacks, like the JP BD Box.
wow hey those digibooks are tits lol

Yeah, it's been like this for almost 20 years now. When the original Japanese Renewal and ADV Platinum releases.

It’s crazy that Evangelion was already considered an “old” show that needed remastering in 2004, when it was 9 years old. That would be like doing the same now for a show from 2012. I know there were far bigger technology changes between 1995 and 2004, but still.

That's pretty nice, I like that set. The foam insert, the art on the digistacks, and it looks like it has magnetic clasps maybe. At least you can read the booklet at that size with my CE I need a magnifying glass to read that little booklet. The LD art in a book is good and I might prefer it to the UE though I also wish it was a hard back. The advantage for some of the UE with the individual LD pieces is that you could frame them all and have a nice NGE wall art installation (if that was your thing). Wish I could afford one of each

Well, the existing video/broadcast masters were pretty rough. If you've seen the VHS or Perfect Collection releases, you know what I mean. Quick and dirty telecine jobs, very wobbly around cuts. There was a lot of room for improvement -- they probably weren't even the best possible transfers at the time they were made.

I wish they would've actually re-transferred episode 16 for the HD remaster. 35mm blowups of 16mm material get a bad rap but they can look really good; it would've been well worth a new scan. The only reason I can imagine they didn't is because the animation is apparently different in a few shots in the 35mm version, but if that's such a sticking point, just replace those specific shots with whatever source was on hand for the 16mm version.

FYI, to all the FMTTM fundamentalists, I'm selling the original 2015 JP BD set for $200 shipped. A bargain for the right to that song.

I'm really looking forward to how it handles the later parts of the series.
It kicks me out of the immersion every time.

PW has it right a combination of the two versions would be better.

Does anyone know of a place of where to buy some replacement 5-disc clear viva elite cases as used in the GKIDS LCE? mine got banged up during shipping or while opening the package and I cant seem to find anyone who makes replacements. The European version seems to be blue but I'd hate to mismatch everything just for one banged up case.

You can get blue ones from Casetopia, but sadly I don't know where you can get clear ones. I didn't even know VIVA made clear 4+ disc Blu-ray cases until this release. I had only seen 1, 2 and 3 disc VIVA Elite Blu-ray cases. It'll likely be extremely difficult to get a replacement case unfortunately.

It’s not Viva Elite, but this may do.

I received a phone call this afternoon from Fed-Ex.
My NGE UE is in the pipe and will be delivered next Tuesday.

After you pay us an additional $45 for the grace of our delivery & taxes, of course....

I assume this is for the UK set?

Gonna be real pissed if fed-ex pull the same shit for the US GKids release considering the shipping costs. Living in Canada really sucks sometimes.

^^ Yeah, it's the set direct from AtA (so UK).
I should be used to this nonsense by now but it never ceases to boil my urine.
typical breakdown (from past experiences);

- $10 "Admin fee" (whatever the hell that is)
- $10 "Surcharge" (whatever the hell that is)
- $10 "additional delivery costs" (i.e. fuel surcharge)
- $15 "cause your an idiot for ordering outside of Canada fee"

^^ Hey Buddy;
The way the gorillas are ramming things through the Christmas Chaos delivery time frame, ya may be the luckiest one, as it has less of a chance to be placed in the truck under some else's Encyclopedia Britannica set Christmas order...

It'll arrive my friend and ideally, in pristine condition!
