Hey Todd.

I hope you have been feeling comfortable and enjoying your set-up. Thought I'd pop-in, just to show that I'm still around and kicking.

I watched The Lovely Bones yesterday (directed by Peter Jackson). It was a good movie. I won't spoil it, but the story is told from the perspective of a young girl who was murdered. It focuses on her family and the murderer. The visuals are fantastic and it is very suspensful at times. It is an uplifting story, even though the subject matter would lead you to think otherwise. I don't know that I would buy it (I normally don't buy dramas), but I definitely would recommend watching it!

Good morning Todd. Anything on the agenda for today?
Good Morning Sean,my Friend.
I hope you are having a good day.

And I remember a time when Flexaril would help with a muscle spasm, and also help me sleep. But,they have never helped me,too much in regards to pain.

I take (3) 10mg tablets per day(some days 4 if my Back is out)But like most similar medications you develop a tolerance for it.

I cant remember exactally when it became a permanent fixture of my medicines.Since I would be placed on Soma for periods of time, when I would have other issues. That is one muscle relaxant that can offer some relief to me still,if my back locks up.

And its misleading to say Flexarils dont do much.Because if I stopped taking them all together. In about a week, without them,I would notice that I still have as many(probably more) and as severe(if not worse) series of muscle spasms.

And,I planned on watching a Blu-Ray today.One I haven't watched in a good while.
But I changed my mind.

I did watch a Great Blu with Incredible Picture Quality and an amazing Audio Track(which surprised me with its Clarity and Punch)That it wasn't a DTS-HD Track, but a Dolby TRUE HD 5.1 Channel Track.

I had seen the movie one time.Almost a year ago at the Theater.
And even though it was released on Blu-Ray in 2009,I waited to get it until it was under $20.00.

And a few months back(in 2010)It was one of my Amazon Prime Deals of the Day(So it was $19.19 total)

I also had one of my (6 or 7) $5.00 credits at Amazon.
So I paid $14.19 for it then. And,of course just a couple of weeks later it went down to $16.99 I believe.

But today was its first run thru in my HT.And it was everything they said,on how amazing the Blu-Ray was.

And that Movie was the most Recent Star Trek

Man,that is a serious reference grade Blu-Ray in any and all aspects.

How about you Sean,my Friend.
Watched any Blu-Rays lately?

Or considering Avatar,tomorrow?

Hey Todd, how were the subs when they went into warp speed? There is some serious low frequency response in those scenes!

I got a chance to watch "The Edge" last night on dvd, and believe it or not, I really enjoyed myself. That Kodiak Grizzly was amazing! I don't watch alot of dvd's anymore, but I will if the moment suits me. What's been going on with you? Hopefully you will run that 4-pack of subs sometime this week, and give us a full report. How did you arrange the subs? Stacked? Four accross? Hope they are to your liking.

Landry
Hey landry,my Friend.Sorry for the delay.
I watched a Movie Today.

And am now just getting back to the Forum.
Watched Star Trek for the first time, since the theater last year.

I had almost forgot how the plot and acting were pretty good. But the Transfer to Blu-Ray is Just Phenomenial.

In Both Video and Audio Quality, its one of the Best Blus I have Seen or Heard.
Truly a Show Piece of Reference Quality, for any system
.

I am going to have to work on my subs some.
I have 1 that is trying to give a little ground loop hum.
Not real loud, and almost inaudible with the Movie Playing.

But its there. And I am using a Panamax Max6 Suppressor with grounding. And the Ground indicator is lit on the Max6.

Also these two subs are almost side by side on the rear of my Right Side Wall,Firing to the middle of the room right behind the Futon when I have the Back Rest in a recline position.

Both are using the same type, brand, length sub cable and same Line Level splitter at the sub's Line Level Outputs(since there is No LFE input)Just Line and Speaker Level.

And the splitter used at each of the 2 Sub Outs on the Back of my AVR,are the same.

So I switched to a different Surge Suppressor and no change.

I do plan on getting another Line Conditioner/Power Center since I have the Projector and Four Subs Plugged in at the rear of the room.
So that may solve the problem.

I simply turned that sub off and only ran three during Star Trek.
So,I may try some cable switches and see if there is a difference.

I am also in need to take more new Pics of my System and room.
But I have two subs on the Right Side Wall. They take up about the Back Third,of the wall. They are Seperated by a couple of inches and firing towards the Left Side Wall.

The other two are slightly different.
I have one on the DIY Sub Riser I built last year. And it is in the corner of the Back Wall and Left Side Wall (Firing toward my back, when seated on the Futon in Chaise Lounge Mode).

Then I have the opening where the closet door once was,but was removed(for my still upcoming closet renovation project)

Then the last sub is on the Left Side Wall just a little further towards the back wall the Half Way.And its firing towards the Right Side Wall. But,I am not sure if I will leave them in this position, which provides Good Bass Performance(or did yesterday with the "Skidoosh Scene")

Or once these risers are built(this week I hope)if I may try some location changes. But with my rooms size and the gear in it now. There aren't too many other areas for me to move them too.

But if I can get rid of the hum.Or accept it as normal, since its not like others I have heard. We will see.

If not,I will try a wire change next and see if I have the sound still.

Got an email from amazon today saying Avatar shipped today. With luck I'll have it this week but probably arrive next week.

I watched Minority Report last night. It's audio is reference and pq is excellent. I got Thomas Crown Affair also. Somewhat of a favorite of mine. It was suppose to be released years ago but Fox went MIA for half a year without releasing announced titles. I recommend both.

Default Star Trek - Bluray

Hey Todd,
Looks like you were busy today as I didn't see you do that many posts. I was busy at work myself. But it appears you were watching the above AMAZING REFERENCE Bluray that is "STAR TREK"
Hopefully that Sub issue is a minor one you figure out til' you upgrade down the line. Btw, what are you leaning towards? SVS, PA-120, eD, something else? Knowing YOU, you'll do amazing amounts of research before deciding.

I checked my AMAZON status & these 4 show "arrived" today at 2:34 pm:
GENERATION KILL (<--Great HBO mini-series, can't wait to see it on Blu'!)
THE COMPLETE MONTEREY POP FESTIVAL ("CRITERION COLLECTION")
THE ROLLING STONES: GIMME SHELTER ("CRITERION COLLECTION")
MINORITY REPORT (<--supposed to have an Amazing Audio track & very good, if not Reference quality Video as well)

They're prob. at the post office near my work, so our courier should get them tomorrow. I'll make sure he looks there when I see him around 8am.

I watched about 30-something minutes of "MONSTERS, INC." today. I'm telling you, even on my 50" 1080i DLP, the PQ was PERFECTION!! Great Audio so far as well, nice LFE, great surround activity also, clear Center dialogue. Have you seen this movie? It's been a few years for me, but as usual it seems, Most of the Animated blurays out there always seem to be Reference Quality for Audio & Video. That may be a case of "Well, DUH!" ( ) as they're done on computer, but still -- I've yet to see or hear an "okay" Animation bluray. For TOY STORY & TOY STORY 2, I plan to watch them back-to-back.

Good Morning Fors*,my Friend.
Closing in on finishing your last book of the trilogy, yet?

And about the same,here.
I may have a buyer for my meteorites.

Also by June I should have an extra $160.00 to $320.00.Not counting selling anything(like my meteorites,or my Rotel Amp)or my part of my check,I have left over.

Each year my Dad works for this farm, selling fresh strawberries at one of 20 stands they have in the area.

And you are paid a specific amount each day.
You deduct that from what you sold that day(so each day,you are paid in cash for working that day)

As you fill out the sheet, show how many boxes sold and remaining.Which equals a specific amount in the money bag,you turn in every morning.
So after you count the amount sold and fill in the sheet. You automatically take out your days wages in cash(that evening)And this goes on Normally(7 days a week)for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 months a year.

So I will get 2 to 4 days worth of income, sometime inbetween May and June(as he always gives me,my Mom,my Sister and my nephew;a few days pay.)

So,if I do sell the meteorites, plus this money and my June Check.I could manage 1 or more amplifiers(depending on brand, size and how many)

He started yesterday. So around the end of June it should be done.

Very cool.......I love getting extra money like that. You don't feel guilty for spending it on things you want instead on things you need......it makes it all the morfe sweet.

Are you thinking of a Rotel amp, or Emotiva, or what else?

Basically its a way to try to pay me back for all the months I have given a good deal extra for whatever reason it was needed.

And used to be for me going to my Dad's Stand(about 20 minutes one way)And bringing him lunch and a couple of drinks(and manning the stand while he takes about a 30 minute Lunch Break).

I did a stand one year and the money is great, but it can be extremely boring, also.

So I got my Dad a TV,Radio, weather radio. That works on AC/DC(cigarette lighter plug),or batteries. So he can play some music, watch the noon local news. Also on weekends, watch any sporting events.

But I have No Idea of what to do.
If the meteorites are sold,I may do Two UPA MonoBlocks,or two UPA-2's,a UPA-5 or XPA-3.

And what amp(s) I may get will determine if I sell my Rotel for ,basically a give away price(for someone looking to branch out with their first amp).

But I like the Two UPA-2's.Then keep the rotel and continue it in the Center. All channels powered by Amps except the rare occassions its a 7 channel Audio Track.

But a UPA-5,followed up with a UPA-2,a little later down the road is also appealing.

And I want to hear from you and Eric and cB on the XPA-3's Performance. And Jason on the UPA-2 and UPA MonoBlocks.

Unless AudiogoN had a deal I couldn't pass by.

Did it take you a while to know which amp to add,or did you know all along ?

I wasn't sure what amp to get until I got my Paradigms. Then I determined from the sound of each speaker which would benefit more from an external amp. So, the XPA-3 was the ticket...not to mention I knew that my SC-05 could very easily handle surround duty without much trouble in keeping up with the XPA-3 as well.

Keep an eye on Audiogon...any Emo's that appear there are gone very quickly......

Personally,I dont think my Yamaha AVR powering the surround channels, could keep up with an XPA-3.
If I went XPA,it would need to be a higher priced XPA-5.

I think,if I go with Emotiva that the UPA Series would be a much better match if my Yamaha AVR drove any surround speakers.

So,I believe Rotel~Adcom~Emotiva~Marantz~etc.would need to stay with lower powered gear for a better match;and to avoid strain on the Yamaha.
