I love them equaly but i can say that my favorite battle is Helms Deep, and the most memorabale moments are the battle at the black gates, and when everone splits.

But seriously i could right a 500 page book in this movie and it's EPICNESS (SQUID)

You didn't answer the question--which of them is the best movie ever? They're separate films. I don't disagree that they're each very good, impressive films.

Hey, just FYI. I liked the first one a lot, but didnt care for the second one too much. They felt different to me. Pacing in #2 was an issue for me.

Funny, but I liked #2 more than #1 because it was so over the top bad. I mean, #1 seemed to be taking itself seriously, as if it were a real revenge movie rather than the grindhouse stuff QT so enjoys. The cartoony silliness of #2 made the tone more congruous with the B-movie Kill Bill really was.

Or was it the other way around?

Rating - 4.25/5
The movie went from a 5/5 to a 2/5 in that single solitary moment for me. I was very sad when it happened.

[Show spoiler]I know what you mean. I think the overall gray and washed-out tone of the movie was to serve as a substitute for the sort of weather you're talking about. That's a practical approach, from a movie making perspective, since creating weather increases potential production problems exponentially.

I agree with you about the boat too. When he went to inspect the boat I was thinking, "Oh boy, what are we in for here?" Nothing apparently.

It's been a long time since a movie watching experience has had such an emotional impact on me. When it was over I felt like I was phyiscally ill or as if I'd been kicked in the gut. It captured the sheer terror of what post-civilization humans might be like in such a disturbingly dispassionate way.I love McCarthy and have read almost everything he's written, but this is one book I'm afraid to get into. I just don't know if I have the energy.

Don't read the comments on the video's page though because I think someone ruined something about the movie.

I saw it some time last year and just randomly remembered about it tonight. I remember thinking it was pretty good and was wondering if anyone else has seen it.

If you haven't seen it, I don't think there's anything in the trailer that is really that spoiler-y.

Unless you are paying close attention to everything, when the movie is over it will probably be the first time you realize that
[Show spoiler]none of the characters have names

[Show spoiler]I have two small gripes and they are very minor, I think the director could have done a better job of bringing the weather into film. In the book the weather plays such a crucial part of the story, to the constant rain, ash, cold, etc….I just think in the film it could have been portrayed better/with more affect. The other gripe is the scene when the Father swims to the boat, it just felt lacking, as in the book, it would have been cool if the film showed the Father exploring the boat to find anything of substance. There was so much tension in the book during that exploration of the boat, the boy on the beach and the man robbing all their possessions. I did not feel that same amount of tension in the film and if handled a bit differently it definitely could have been more substantive.

The PQ and AQ were both very impressive. The night scene with the Viggo and Duvall stands out in my mind as high definition perfection.

PQ: 4.5/5

AQ: 4.5/5

Film: 4/5
I agree with everything you said. Especially the boat scene.
[Show spoiler] Could have been more stressful with the boy being alone and all. It was too brief as well.

Still really enjoyed the film.

Good point the special features did mention that the majority of the film was shot on location which would make creating weather even more difficult. I have to tell you if you felt you got kicked in the gut from the movie the book will kick you right upside the head! Overall I really liked the movie it just did not match the devastation and utter macabre presented on the written page. It is a quick read if you have the inclination give it a go.
