If it hadn't been for your post about it this morning I'd be jumping around with excitement all night.

Just recently I've had a couple of dispatch emails from Arrow when I've ordered direct, but I pre-ordered Hellgate and Hell Comes to Frogtown a while ago and haven't received a dispatch email, though I'm sure they'll have been posted. I don't mind too much (makes for a nice surprise when I get home), but at least I know sooner rather than later if something goes missing, as one of my orders did over Christmas.

Wish I had pre-ordered The Killers back when it was cheap to pre-order. No idea why I didn't...it's Lee Marvin for god's sake! Still, looking forward to Blind Woman's Curse and just ordered a copy of The Fury to pass the time

That's until The 'Burbs and Koyaanisqatsi are announced? Or maybe something even better...The Driver? Lord Of The Flies? Thief? Death Rides A Horse? Jabberwocky? VAMPIRE'S KISS? THE THING? One can only dream...

I haven't seen the final disc encode yet, but I have seen all the constituent parts, and I'm very very happy with the way it's coming together.

Not least because while previous releases like Criterion's famous double-feature DVD tended to relegate the 1964 version to the status of also-ran, here it's the centre of attention - and since it's a pivotal work in the careers of Lee Marvin, Ronald Reagan and Don Siegel, there's plenty to discuss. After all, how many other films feature the last acting appearance by a man who went on to become US President - and where the film itself sheds a great deal of light on his career and public image at the time?

And the transfer looks superb, too - it's a comparatively recent (2009) HD scan by Universal Pictures, and I honestly can't imagine a 50-year-old TV movie looking much better.

Hope this quote makes the back of the case

So glad I pre-ordered - really looking forward to it.

I got excited then as I've been waiting for The Stuff since I upgraded to a Blu Ray player about 3yrs ago. So yours hasn't been dispatched. I get its like 10 weeks early but hey I am just double checking

It hasn't right? It is too early isn't it?

Is the transfer 1.33:1 or widescreen?

Quote:
British distributors Arrow Video have officially announced and detailed their upcoming Dual Format releases of Italian director Tinto Brass' Cheeky a.k.a Trasgredire (2000), starring Yuliya Mayarchuk, Jarno Berardi, and Francesca Nunzi, and Frivolous Lola a.k.a Monella (1998), starring Anna Ammirati, Patrick Mower, and Max Parodi. The two release will be available for purchase on February 10th.

Cheeky

When free-spirited beauty Carla (Yuliya Mayarchuk) moves to London, her search for a flat leads to a lesbian seduction by estate agent Moira (Francesca Nunzi), much to the horror of Carla's boyfriend Matteo (Jarno Berardi) still stuck in their native Venice. And then he discovers a cache of letters from an ex-boyfriend, accompanied by a highly revealing and very public photograph of her…

Ravishingly shot in two of the world's great cities, bouncily scored by Pino Donaggio, and crammed with wall-to-wall nudity and casual sexual flings, Cheeky is as lighthearted as its title suggests, but it's subtler and more philosophical than the average sex romp.

In particular, it's a genuinely moving look at problems arising when a desire to remain scrupulously faithful collides with the lure of baser instincts. Carla genuinely loves Matteo, but how can she reassure him when he spots temptation around every corner?

Special Features:

High Definition Blu-ray and Standard Definition DVD presentation of the film uncut and in widescreen for the first time
Optional English and Italian audio
Newly translated English subtitles for the Italian audio
Featurette on the film with director Tinto Brass
Original Trailer
Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly designed artwork by The Red Dress
Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by critic and author Maitland McDonagh, illustrated with original archive stills.

Frivolous Lola

One of the sunniest of Tinto Brass's erotic comedies, this sets its breezy tone from the opening scene in which Lola (Anna Ammirati) cycles around a small Po Valley town in a flapping skirt that leaves nothing to the imagination.

But it's the 1950s, and her baker fiancée Masetto (Max Parodi) is determined that Lola remains a virgin until their wedding night. However, she is equally set on establishing whether or not he's a good lover before they tie the knot. His dough-kneading technique seems promising, but how can she be sure without an expert to compare him with? In short, can Masetto live up to the erotic ideals professed by Lola's mother's lover (Patrick Mower)?

Fortunately, the outwardly innocent town turns out to be a hotbed of licentiousness, with opportunities for voyeurism and maybe more around every corner – all in the interests of self-improving research, of course.

Special Features:

High Definition Blu-ray and Standard Definition DVD presentation of the film uncut and in widescreen for the first time
Optional English and Italian audio
Newly translated English subtitles for the Italian audio
Original Trailer
Alternate Italian language opening and closing credits
Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly designed artwork by The Red Dress
Collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by critic David Flint, illustrated with original archive stills.

I watched Big Trouble in Little China for the first time ever last night, I loved it! Can't believe it's taken me all this time to get round to watching it. It had all the fun of Temple Of Doom, Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles, but with a bit of an adult twist.

I was very impressed with the picture quality too, looked like it was filmed yesterday. Didn't get a chance to watch any of the extras, but I look forward to going through them at a later date. Really glad I decided to blind-buy this.

Yeah its a top movie, a classic. Shocked to read that it bombed when first released.

Love all the Carpenter and Russell movies

It's seems that the Arrow Store Sale is now over. Bummer. Waited too long, as per usual.

Where are you? I'm in Australia and ordered Tenebrae steelbook from Zavvi about 1.5 weeks ago and it arrived yesterday, so very fast. But sometimes I've had to wait nearly a month for a few of my orders to turn up.

It's a fantastic release by the way and the transfer looks great.

Im in the U.S. Chicago. I had ordered from them before (the Texas Chainsaw 2 set) and it arrived in about a week and a half. Almost at a month for this one.

Got to give max respect to MichChrisIp. He sorted me out with a free copy of The Last American Virgin on blu ray. Completely free, he didn't even charge me for postage or anything. Didn't think people online could be this generous, but MichChrisIp proved me well wrong. It's encouraged me to be a bit generous in the future too.

Nice one, MichChris. Look forward to watching the film
