I purchased the complete series last week on Blu-ray, but these movies weren't on it and I want to have it complete. By my knowlegde the movies haven't been released on blu, so that's why I purchased them on DVD so I can at least complete it.

Hopefully you'll enjoy the episodes with the transfers and audio. So far I've been happy to very happy with the Blu-ray set (there are the two feature-length pilots to begin with and the season 2 premiere "Married" is presented as feature-length).

Still unsure about whether the fourth and fifth seasons were filmed together or not.

It's good that the Incredible Hulk reunion TV films were released on DVD. I can think of at least one older television series where I don't think the reunion TV film has been released on DVD (The Mod Squad).

Looking forward to my rewatch, it has been so long ago! Regarding the DVD's, I thought: the longer I wait, in one or two years time, perhaps the DVD's aren't available so easily anymore. Now I could still purchase them for a decent price.

Season 1 Episodes 1-5

The show: IMO, still the greatest cop show, and in general one of the most influential shows there's ever been. There's no NYPD Blue, or any other police procedural without Blues first. Great show, with great characters, that still holds up incredibly well today (although the sight of David Caruso as an Irish gang-leader, dressed like a Leprechaun and called Shamrock is somewhat problematic or amusing depending on your disposition).

The DVDs - the packaging isn't great, or at least doesn't really stand up to long-distance transit so if you're importing this, beware. It's 7 amarays (one per season) inside a thinnish card box - the box inevitably is damaged, and every single case has at least one disc of the hub, if not several. All 7 cases had to be replaced, and the discs have suffered at least minor scratches. Hopefully they'll all still play!

This is the 33-disc edition, which drops the extras disc, which is a shame. Although you do get the audio commentaries on the episode discs.

All in all, a great show that deserves better treatment. Hopefully one day we'll get a blu/HD release.

Watched this show every week back in the day, really loved it as a young boy. Strangely, I never watched it again.

Shame when your purchases have dents or are damaged even. Always such a major disappointment when this happens.

It's literally the first TV show that I remember watching and now knowing what it was. I mean, that theme tune alone is so iconic that it's hard to forget!

I did have concerns in importing a set like that knowing the packaging it would likely arrive in and my fears were fully realized. Honestly, every part of the product was damaged in some way - box, cases, discs.

That theme tune is perhaps the most recognisable of all. Just looked it up on YT again, goosebumps!

Usually the damage is minor with shipping overseas, at least, this is my experience, but this really sucks indeed. And you know, when you return it, for a new copy, it will most likely be as damaged as the first one.

Indeed. I'll keep it. I've already swapped out the cases so not much lost there. The box, most of it is scuffs but there's at least one proper puncture of the card which is annoying. The main thing is the discs so I'll have to check them out as quickly as I can. As you say, a replacement is likely to suffer the same fate anyway. Fortunately, it wasn't a bad deal, I think I got it for about £50.

A good idea, as yes you never know whether a title/titles could become less easier to purchase and at a reasonable price and new and sealed with no damage.

I had a look earlier and to my relief I do have the three Incredible Hulk post-series TV films on DVD (both UK releases):

The Incredible Hulk Returns and The Trial of the Incredible Hulk double feature DVD was a release by Anchor Bay

The Death of the Incredible Hulk DVD I've forgot who that was released by, but the front cover artwork is the same as on the DVD you posted about earlier this week.

Had to double-check as I thought it was Shout! Factory that released this complete series DVD boxset in the States, and having looked at the listing page (the thumbnail artwork) it was them. This sounds like what happened with at least one other older television series Shout released on DVD, The Facts of Life (a complete series set with a bonus disc, and a later release without it).

That was my own fault with The Facts of Life when I ordered a copy on Deep Discount. I could see it had one less disc compared to ordering directly from Shout, but I still went and ordered from DD. It arrived damaged as well.

Are the episodes uncut or near to uncut in Shout's DVD set of Hill Street Blues? No music cuts, edits and substitutions? Is the release with the extras disc now out-of-print? If I were to get Shout's DVD release and they announced a subsequent Blu-ray upgrade boxset, it wouldn't bother me as I won't be getting a subsequent Blu-ray release of every older television series I've collected or partly collected on DVD.

Now, with it seeming like Shout is focusing mainly on films now (including combo pack releases), I am nostalgic about when they released regularly on DVD older television series. Could it be they don't have any new deals with the big studios for older series?

Yes, it's nice to know you don't have to start searching for it later.

Must admit I didn't spend any great amount of time trying to find the 34-disc edition. I had a quick look at the additional disc and the extras on it, and while it would have been nice to have it, I could live without it given the decent price the 33-disc set was.

As far as I've seen so far the episodes appear to be non-edited and the music all seems fine. PQ is "ok" for a show of its age, in SD. I would love a HD version, even if it's only via streaming, but preferably on BD.

Arrived:

And that completes my Tom Hanks collection, from HE KNOWS YOU'RE ALONE (1980) through HERE (2024), either on UHD, BD, DVD or digital.

Not new, but looks good enough.

ps. I still had some empty elite 4-disc blu-ray -cases, so I swapped the season 5 2-disc for it. Now I have everything together in one set.

Watched: 7 Men From Now (1956)

A fabulous Bud Boetticher/Randolph Scott western that really needs a good blu-ray release.

Bought: Winchester ‘73 (1967)

I’ve watched the original Anthony Mann/James Stewart 1950 western numerous times down the years on all formats and I upgraded and watched the 4K recently but this 1967 version is a curio buy I’ve never seen. Hopefully it’s OK, it has the great Dan Duryea in it again so can’t be all bad.

I may have come across this television film a few months ago when looking at actor Dan Dureya's IMDb filmography when watching Network's DVD release of film Do You Know This Voice? A few of the Timeless Media/Shout! Factory DVD releases I've wanted to get.
