I agree that glow in the dark doesn't necessarily fit all genres and fits scifi/horror best, but I'm willing to see what they come up with for Ator as Dead Pit is one of the best glow in the dark covers I've seen. They really made good use of the glow in the dark material.

I know DF is also putting out a glow in the dark slip for drive in #6 and that one I may pass on since it won't match the first 5 drive in releases which have no slip. IMO to make it more of a "set" they'd need to retroactively release slipcovers for the first 5 like Severin/VS has done with some older releases, but that would probably be too expensive.

Its worth mentioning again these slips are just first run only so with a bit of patience you can save money by waiting for the slipless version if you have no interest in the slip.

Come now Mr discs, I know you are simply following the herd by trashing and nitpicking every little detail of the dark forces releases, but you can't say the slip was of the same quality as a standard Code Red release.

The paper stock.was glossy and thick, not VS thick but not thin dull cardboard like a standard Code red.

A good booklet doesn’t have readily available information elsewhere, they are often commissioned specifically for the film’s release. If they are however, 90% pictures, then yes they are as useless as a glow in the dark slipcover.
These booklets generally are not a "book," though, they are generally 3-5 pages of mildly interesting info in very tiny print (not so great to read). If it were something that was unique enough that it could be of enough value to be sold on its own I'd get it (like the Creepshow 2 CE comic book), but most of these booklets are a one-and-done affair that are at best mildly interesting for 5 minutes.

All you are doing is describing how a booklet can be done poorly, the same exercise can be applied to slipcovers. A range of quality is assumed, even criterion who I would argue has the best resources and catalogue to produce relevant booklets, disappoints more often than not. If you can’t, however, find value in an essay accompanying a Second Run release, then there is little meaning left in the word.

I won't call it thick even though all of the marketing hype had it seem like that. My Kino Deep Rising slip cover is thicker than the Dead Pit slip. If the black was a dull matte black I think it would have been better.

I am just speaking of US market, majority of booklets are not much to get excited over.

Can think of a couple of exceptions like aforementioned creepshow 2 ce or combat shock.

Dead Pit is a Code Red release. I didn’t see very much difference between the thickness in this release and their usual slips. Yes, it’s more glossy than usual. I still don’t get The hubbub. It’s most certainly a big A/V, which is obviously the most important thing.

Keep in mind while VS slips are thick they are also matte finish. Not sure how well matte finish is going to hold up over time.

Matte finish is more susceptible to damage from moisture and more susceptible to fading than gloss/semigloss finish.

No games here. I just had a question and was hoping to get a definitive answer from the owner of the company that is putting the disc out.

Yes it has a Code Red logo on the slip but c'mon dude, this may as well be a Dark Force release, demon promoted it, presumably had a huge hand in the design and production of the slip and sold and shipped it.

Let's not forget the demon paid Bill $15K up front so the demon could replicate 1000 copies.

He made good money if he paid Bill 15 for the right to sell 1000 at 34.99.

$34999 - whatever PayPal processing fees I would assume the majority of the orders are through PayPal, - shipping for 1000 orders and then of course the tax man will want his cut.

How much will he make about 8 grand for easy work, not bad.

And was able to sell old stock in bundles

The bundles are a good scalper deterrent though

Plus replication and the embossed, glow-in the dark slip cover costs.

Well all the bundles sold out fairly fast and I'm guessing a much higher percentage of those went to people who don't plan to scalp the movie vs the individuals.

All I know is the 3 pack bundle brought the price of each release down to $20, not $35, hence my purchase. If you had none of their releases, as I did, then the bundles were the right way to go. $35 for that release on it's own is outrageous. But if you had to have it, then so be it....

You could manipulate the data to say each movie was $20, but really you spent $60 for Dead Pit and then got stuck with two movies you didn't want.
