Robocop 2014 is a solidly well done remake of the classic original film. It was thoughtful in concept, intelligently written, and approached with the good sense not to simply repeat what Verhoeven did out of respect and admiration. It also had genuinely great moments that would seem trivial to some, but I believe served the heart and mind of the film and its intentions. It is also unfairly criticized for not being like the original which is a cop out. If it had played it safe, duplicating the 1987 film, it'd be accused of being a pointless soulless carbon copy. It dared to be different, and to me benefitted greatly for it. It's not a big action movie, it's science fiction with "some action" in it like Blade Runner for example. It had
The original casts too big a shadow, but shed some light on this quality feature, and just take it for what it set out to be which on its own terms is a thoughtful retelling that is more focused on the science, the political climate, and the human drama, than the big action, and bloody gore. This one can stand on its own two feet. |

I feel Mads gives his best performance as Hannibal.

One of the more acclaimed indie films of last year, I really wasn't taken with The Peanut Butter Falcon. I rated it higher than I would for the wholesome sincerity of it, and the brilliant lead performance from Zack Gottsagen, but I found everything else regarding the story, screenplay and character development very half baked and forgettable. Hopefully, it will lead to Gottsagen getting more roles though, and that can only be a good thing.

So overall, I think Mads is better but Hopkins is genuinely scary, I don't think Mads is ever 'scary' as Lector. Last edited by spider-neil; 06-25-2020 at 06:59 PM. |

Where as Mads Mikkelsen, not only is his Hannibal Lecter more accurate to the book, but he is also much more accurate to how psychopaths and serial killers behave. When you actually study psychopaths and serial killers, you'll be thinking of Mikkelsen and not Hopkins. Also Hopkins performance in Red Dragon and Hannibal don't help much either. |

Hard to choose between Mads and Cox's version but i guess Mads takes the cake because he has a lot more screentime than Cox. I love Hopkins too but i prefer Cox over his version because Cox portrayal is more realistic.
