I placed my order for the replacement disc on 12/22 and it arrived today. Must say this was way quicker than getting the replacement disc for the Friday the 13th set lol

So far just Gkids is offering it for their NA set. Disc 5's 'Deleted Live Action Scene' is missing subtitles completely. It also affects the UK and Australian set, but neither of those companies have put up a replacement program as of yet.

How are the replacement discs shipped btw, like what are they in when you get them?
Anyone got pics of what they look like when they arrive?

Hopefully replacements from AtA get announced soon.
Also I wonder if this will affect the Australian release, as those aren't even getting released until Feb, maybe they'll already have corrected discs.
I'm pretty sure with the Funimation 4k release of Akira, they sent out replacement discs because the originals weren't HDR, but by the time they were released in Aust, the discs were already corrected... Or so I heard, I emailed Madman asking about that before they were out and they said they had the correct discs already.

I doubt it. I ordered the Ultimate Edition and they are still sending me a replacement disc.

I didn't catch there was a replacement program until catching up on this thread this afternoon. Any chance we can get the replacement program info added to the first post or title of the thread? I wouldn't have caught it normally due to being away for the holidays.

Glad to see them fixing it. They easily could have just left it as is since it's just on an extra bonus segment.

Could someone with either the Ultimate or Collector's Edition release confirm the audio specs/codec for Disc #6 (i.e. the "Video Format" version of EoE) for me? The Blu-ray.com review doesn't make any mention of its details, but I very much suspect that the 5.1 mix wouldn't be present on it due to its content differences as compared to the theatrical version.

It's japanese LPCM stereo.

Makes sense, as that matches the Japanese box set (including the codec selection) and I can't imagine that anyone on either the licensor or disc production sides would have wanted to bother retrofitting one of the existing English dubs for EoE's theatrical version to account for the Video Format version's audio changes.

Just finished my collector's set. I was a little disappointed with the extras, once you get past the animatics you're basically just left with short promo material and two half-hour clip shows. And that live-action junk. Though I'm not sure what I was expecting.

Now having finally seen the old ADV dub, I can honestly say the Netflix dub was better. The ADV is looser with ad-lib and humor, but some of the characters' voices sounded like they went with the first person who came along. Misato sounded like a ten year old. The Netflix dub is more straight and plain, but the voices match the characters much better and follows the script more closely. Though the Japanese voice work is absolutely fine and will be my go-to from now on. But it does stink a little that I paid $140 extra for a pretty lackluster dub. The video format for EoE was take it or leave it, wish they would have included Death and Rebirth in its original format if they were gonna use alternative editions.

Watching it back-to-back two more times was fun. It's a great series with a great movie. The BD set could have been more, but it could have been so much worst too.

got my Limited Edition set in the mail today.

I know the Ultimate Edition is way more elaborate, but i'm really happy with how the cheaper LE looks in itself, plus its a lot more economical in general.
