Cambridge magic DAC is very good and has more inputs than the rDAC. Ask Andrew.

Have you thought about bringing back that black stand when you get your TT fixed?

Doesn't necessarily have to go in the same place, maybe a corner placement about where you have your sub. Buy longer cables for whatever needs it for the new placement.

I think that would look better then the child proof gate. That gate has to be distracting when you’re watching a movie.

Irronically the gate is not distracting... it sits low enough and out far enough that it you don't see it at all. I don't have that Audio rack anymore.

Are you still interested in a DAC? I thought you were going with on Oppo? A descent DAC will run you about the same price as an Oppo 93. I haven't compared my Cambridge to any other DACs but I'm happy with the performance of it, switching out the power supply made a small increase in performance but it's not a night and day difference. Good thing it wasn't very expensive, I'm happy with that small upgrade for the DAC.

I like the look of your center on the top shelf better. I don't know if it's just me but the speaker looked bigger on the lower shelf.

I was just telling him about Arcam that released a new dac that will compete with the nDAC from Naim, it's 2000 pounds in british currency so it ain't cheap it's somewhere like $3000.

They have stopped making the rDAC so if he changes his mind he could always get a deal on the rDAC while some dealers still have it in stock.

He said no more good affordable DAC but the Magic DAC is known to have received great reviews.

I agree that it looks better but the center also looked bigger but don't forget those drivers are only 4.5"

I am not really interested in a DAC atm. I just liked what I'd heard from the rDAC and I find that I like Wolfson DACs when I have heard them. Burr Browns are nice too tho. Im more interested in getting an Oppo then a DAC for sure.

I like the look of the center channel on top more also, but the sound was better IMO on the lower shelf. Im almost considering taking the stand off and seeing if thats better. On the bottom shelf the tweeter was pointed right at ear level and you couldn't tell the audio was coming from down on the lower shelf.... it sounded like it was coming from the TV, and it was perfect, now it seems to point over my ear level a little and you can hear where the sound is coming from.

They are actually not 4.5" woofers, they are 4.33" woofers.... and they can thump.

For an experiment, I put a DVD case under the back of the plinth to help make it more level with my ear level, and it sounds like its coming more from the TV then the speaker.

Ok Then 4.33 so even smaller I saw that 11cm, 2.54cm for 1 inch I did not bother calculating.

Yeah it is quite small but I know it'sa great center, Just finished updating my formware on the AVR. I have to recalibrate everything including the TV.

Do you thing that also has anything to do with the center being closer to the edge of the shelf when it was lower? It seems like you have the center pushed farther back now that it's on the top shelf, which is probably creating unwanted reflections that you didn't have before. Are you going to permently tilt the center down a bit from the back? I have the opposite problem, I need to prop mine up at the front to get it to sound like it,s coming from the tv not the speaker.

I think your right in wanting the Oppo, it would suit your wants and needs better.

You know that's a good thought also, I'll have to play with the positioning to see if that part of the issue. if so then I know ill be happy in the future, but for now, nothing can be near the edge.
