That's not entirely accurate, they will ring fence the funds for several days after you place the order so £57 will disappear from your account straight away but will re-appear in a few days.

Not an issue for me as I use a credit card but for those using their bank account it could be a problem if you don't have much in there at present.

I don't think we'll see the three documentaries 'In the Beginning, From Puppets to Pixels and Within A Minute' so I'd keep everything you've got. As for the theatrical cuts I think best case scenario is we have deleted/extended/altered scenes making an appearance. I don't think Empire of Dreams will be on the BD's either although I thought a retrospective documentary on the prequels in that style would have been quite fitting.

Let's face it: This probably wont be the last Star Wars Blu Ray collection to come out, Lucas is known for withholding material for future releases. (Just as he did with this one, amiright?)

The Beginning, From Puppets To Pixels and Empire of Dreams are all really good docs and should've been included with this! I do already have all those on DVD, yeah, but it would nice to know that i could sell them and have them all in one place... Like what happened with the awesome Alien Anthology!

Also I think £70 is way too expensive and it needs to go down to at least £40 before i'll spend money on it. Or just wait for something better come along...

I ordered Day One from Amazon, slowly edging towards cancelling and waiting for a price drop or the next inevitable rerelease

I suspect you'll be waiting for a considerable amount of time before the price drops to your purchase threshold. I have pre-ordered it at Tesco for £57.00-ish, and I'm happy with that.

The deleted scenes are what I have long wanted to have, so just as long as they present them all here, I'll be happy - at least in terms of extras...

...And i'll happily be waiting for that moment. I'm not that anxious to see Star Wars on Blu Ray frankly, at least until i read a review. Besides i still have the DVD's which hold up pretty well. 2 more things that might make me wanna buy the Blu Ray is some adjustments: CGI Yoda in Phantom Menace and Pink Lightsabers in the OT. Not that i'm too eager to see Phantom Menace again, but it would be interesting to see CG Yoda instead of goofy looking Puppet Yoda. The Pink Lightsabers (see US thread) is a problem that just HAS to be fixed! Make them red again, for the love of god!

Apart from the Deleted Scenes and the ESB retrospective, there aren't anything too exciting regarding extras. Devoting 3 hours of HD content (i think they're in HD) on Disc 9 to "Spoofs" and "Cos-players"? Really? That just makes no sense to me.

I would personally not use Tesco then if this is what they do, I'll be pre-ordering in a few weeks time (far too early yet) with HMV

That's good news. I'm wrestling with myself whether to wait for the price to drop. I think 60+ quid is too expensive for this set considering the prices of the Superman, Aliens sets, even though they have less films those sets were pretty comprehensive. The LotR set was overpriced as well considering there wasn't any new material.

I noticed in HMV that they had a tab for the DVD set, I haven't heard of a new set on DVD. Is there going to be a DVD release as well?

[Show spoiler]

I spotted those in the US thread. It's playtime! Never understood why they have force lighting on the figures though if our imagination was good enough to make our Christmas trees the forest moon of Endor the we don't need no plastic lightning....

Are these going to be available in any stores or just on-line?

I'm assuming that's instead of 3D versions of the films

Just hold them in front of your eyes and try to match the actions

I so hope i'm wrong, but i've heard that eps 4,5 and 6 have not had a 4K (or 8K) scan done, and the ones we are about to shell out our hard earned on are the ones used for the 2004 DVD release - which weren't 4K scans.

WTF??? Can someone please clear this up for me...

Now I'm curious, are they a pack including the Bly ray release? Or just a anniversary pack to coincide with the Releases.

That appears to be the case, but hasn't been confirmed.

I think the news has been around long enough to know that the unaltered versions of the original trilogy will not be appearing in this set, and that it is the Special Editions on which the Blu-rays are based, but I would suggest not pre-judging this set, as further work has been done on the films, and think it unwise to automatically shoot the set down because of the 2004 masters.

I think the 2004 masters were 2K, which I always thought 1080P was (2K has a slightly higher resolution). Episodes II and III were done in 1080P (as they were filmed that way). I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless Lucasfilm decided they wanted to do a new complete restoration and start again then those 2004 masters are the only option.

There's been a bit of detective work in the US thread working out whether the BD will be sourced from those masters and it's a pretty high probability that they are. Whether they've been altered in any way is up for debate as we don't have any evidence to prove anything at the moment (and opinions with Star Wars are usually polar opposites). So I'd wait and see (with fingers crossed).

I'm looking out for the BBFC pages lately. They've rated stuff like Scarface and The Lion King (partially, bonus features), so Star Wars shouldn't be too far away.
