When I saw the newsletter today, I almost fell out of my chair! So happy about this one!

Of course I pledged right away and sent the offer to my friends. I've seen "And the Mud Ship Sails On" at Nippon Connection and the director, producer and dp were present for a Q&A. They described how the film had caused quite a scandal in Japan and how they had not found any distributor because of it. I loved the film so much, I offered them money on the spot to sell me a copy. Of course they couldn't. But I did tell them about Third Window Films and wrote down the internet address for them. Apparently they had already talked to Adam at that point, but since I speak no Japanese and they spoke very little English, communication was a bit difficult. But I still feel just a tiny bit proud for having done my part in this.

Thanks a lot for the great news, Adam!

More than halfway there already, and some kind people have even pledged more than £16. Glad to see how well this is doing!

went for £20. if needed im gonna pledge more. but i doubt adam will not reach his goal in the given time.
didnt expect so many people at the first day.

lets hope everything works out fine and we see more kickstarters in the future.

someone here already watched "Pluto" ? liked the movie alot.
bonus features as well. great job.
and i think adam was mentioned as "Producer"

Just pledged. I had no idea about this at all, but I'm over the moon. I had read about a DVD release, but not a BD release. I really loved the teaser for The Lust of Angels. Especially the music. It's a shame there are so few copies though, I'll feel a little guilty for those who miss out. The target looks well on its way to getting smashed.

I remember Adam mentioning that he'd like to release this on Blu-ray, so when I saw the DVD listed on Amazon, I was a little disappointed. That was until I saw this Kickstarter project

I'm on a couple of Facebook film groups - Everything Film and 1.21 Jigowatts, and I've posted the link on there. There's over 100 people in each group, and probably there are other people like me who are in both, but that's at least another 150 or so who are now aware of this

Adam

I have the DVD on pre-order with Amazon. I'm going to need to cancel it, but is it best to cancel it now? If the sole release DVD is not happening, then I suppose the order would be cancelled anyway

thanks for the support!

actually, that Amazon release is the only one but can't seem to change where it says DVD, though thought it was pretty clear in the title of it which says "New Directors from Japan - Dual Format DVD/Blu-ray" and lists it as a 3 disc set

i don't know how to change the format to say both DVD & Blu-ray, but i wonder if it can even be done?

You're welcome to cancel though and just go with the kickstarter one as it'll be signed by all so quite limited!

yeah there was a bit to that, but actually 'And the Mud Ship' was in our top 10 of 2013 as saw at Tokyo Film Festival and loved it. Knew though that based on our recent disastrous sales of any non-genre title which no-one knows about that it would be impossible to release it, so came up with the idea of trying to package loads of recent films I've liked from young and new directors who are trying to get out there but can't make it themselves. Thought that it would be even riskier though as put a few polls up and people were split on dvd/blu-ray which is a real problem nowadays as if i release both dvd and blu-ray it makes it very hard as half buy dvd and half blu, but the total together isn't high enough to put them both out and better to just release 1 format and lose on a few people who only buy one or the other. Problem also with blu-ray is that it's hard to drop the price too much yet dvd can easily so much easier to sell in budget if doesn't shift initially. Though dual formats mean that you can't drop the price as too expensive in total, so thought i'd see if kickstarter would help and make it a super limited thing. Hopefully with this proving successful it will help maybe other series of 'New Directors' plus other titles, but i can't be sure until everything is shipped out and everyone is happy (which of course can't be taken for granted as these are all unknown films and each film and director is very different). Will be a huge pain compiling this project though, with lots of factors in place, not least getting 250 copies signed by 3 directors who live in different places and then posting those 250 copies out across the world, but will try hard!

I'm sure you'll pull this one off Adam. Just to have this released is fantastic, and then to go above and beyond is the icing on the cake. I'm going to up my pledge as I want to fully support this release

Will this Kickstarter finish when you hit the target? Or will it carry on until the closing date

kickstarter finish at target of 250 limited editions, but in theory it could go over the £4000 as people have donated more which will help a lot to cover all the shipping costs and the fact that about 10% of it all goes to kickstarter themselves

if the remaining sets get sold for the 16 GBP you are asking you should reach something like 4254 GBP...

you could probably have asked for more and the copys would still have sold
