With no concrete news on directors, casting, or production, I don't think we'll be getting a new Halloween or Friday the 13th come October.

He threw a legal red taped monkey wrench into it all, from what I understand.

Friday the 13th and Amityville Awakening keep getting delayed, no new Halloween, no new Nightmare on Elm Street, no Scream 5, no updates on The First Omen... only Cult of Chucky is progressing. The horror genre is pretty much dead.

No. Tommy Jarvis survives. He even returns in the Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash comics. The character was even rumored to appear for the Friday the 13th 2009 sequel. So it's possible Tommy Jarvis could return to the franchise at some point.

Yeah, he seems to be a fan favorite. Probably the only Friday the 13th character to survive in all three films his in.

I feel like they're scared of the reception a new movie will get and that's why they're throwing around stupid ideas like a found footage film and struggling to get a proper script made. Look at what happened with Spectre, it followed Bond formula that's existed for 50 years to a tee, but it got a mixed reaction. Sure, they could write a Friday script in a weekend but if it's too similar to the previous entries there will always be people who complain about it being "more of the same".

Maybe I'm just overthinking it, I dunno.

As bad as the 2009 remake was, I would rather have a sequel to that than a reboot.

But the Friday the 13th movies never got good reviews to begin with, so why would they care what people think? Even though the idea of doing it in found footage or telling an origin story are very stupid ideas. They are trying too hard to make this new one different.

How about Crystal Lake Band Camp & Glee Club? Throw in some sex and some killing from Jason & it would definitely be something a little different that what they have done before.

Couldn't they write in a new character all together, and leave Jason out? Have some disfigured psychotic genius obsessed with Jason, create an entirely unique mask or way of killing, even a new philosophy. Take it to the next level, maybe? If it was written well enough, it could piggyback off the name and become another franchise.
