Titanic 4K UHD (1997)

Paramount has uploaded the entire ‘Mean Girls’ movie to TikTok in 23 parts, in honor of October 3rd.

So if Titanic doesn't end up getting a UHD release when it's supposed to, at least we can rest assured knowing we'll get a TikTok release on April 15th! Can't wait to sit on the toilet and watch the film in portrait mode, then watch some more on the bus, before moving on to something else because my attention span ran out.

The future of cinema sure looks bleak.

The film will arrive in a 4-disc edition from Paramount Pictures on December 5, 2023, presented in 4k 2160p resolution with Dolby Vision and HDR10 High Dynamic Range formats. The edition is confirmed to be a 4-disc set including 1 BD-100, 1 BD-66, and 2 BD-50s, along with a code to redeem Digital Copies of both versions of the film.

The BD-66 is making me think we might be getting some 4K special features? Remastered Ghosts of the Abyss?

Well, technically there are two versions of the film since the original 3D re-release, and Blu-ray. The BD for China was edited for nudity.

I remember when the original Blu-Ray release was happening, Cameron talked about remastering all of the deleted footage so you could have the ability to watch the film as is or with them reinstated (via branching). It never happened then, but that could be an option if the 4K is two different discs.

(Not that I think it's the case, either. It's just crappy reporting.)

So long as the collectors edition isn't HUGE I could be interested. Especially if it includes a 3D disc. Otherwise I'm just gonna go with the regular edition.

I'm surprised it's taking so long, though, for the official details to drop. Bullmoose is a reputable retailer but why is the Amazon page down? Why nothing at HDMOVIESOURCE? Seems strange.

Good points, forgot about those. But that only furthers my point that there's no reason to split up Titanic, since those movies are even longer than LoA. Plus, if Titanic has been scrubbed of grain, then it should in theory be easier to compress onto a single disc without noticeable artifacts (though with Paramount at the helm it's kind of a crapshoot anyway).

Fellowship’s extended version is only 15 minutes longer than Titanic, fwiw.

I think the primary reason they’re on two discs is that Warner uses the same discs worldwide, so they have a bunch of language and subtitle options. Paramount only has the film domestically, so there’d be less in that regard.

HD Movie Source has a page up. They are a Canadian third party retailer, so ignore their inflated prices. They do list it as a 2 UHD set, though the info may not be accurate, or finalized.
